PS-540 - Router Architecture Power Session

This power session provides a detailed look at the components of a Cisco router and Cisco IOS, including: memory, processors, backplanes, process scheduling, memory management, and packet buffers. An overview of switching, routing, and layer 3 switching will be presented, followed by a detailed look at Cisco's switching path and a detailed look at Cisco Express Forwarding.

Other topics that will be covered:
  • Detailed look at Parallel Express Forwarding (PXF) technology implementations and practical solutions.
  • Finish with a recap of the switching path through Cisco routers.
General (not detailed) knowledge of the Cisco product line is assumed.
