Cisco DialOut Utility is a Cisco IOS® software feature for Cisco network access server (NAS) platforms. Cisco DialOut allows desktop LAN users to share NAS ports as a modem pool for outbound asynchronous communications. Users of Cisco DialOut no longer need dedicated modems and phone lines at their desktops, but instead use Cisco's Windows-based communication (COM:) port redirector software to allow dial ports on the access servers to appear as local modems to desktop communications applications. Windows users can dial through a central NAS to access remote on-line services and even to send faxes from their PCs. Before attempting to install the Cisco DialOut Utility for your application, it is important that you verify whether your Cisco NAS equipment and software support the Cisco DialOut Utility. Please contact your Cisco system engineer with any pre-sales questions on the Cisco DialOut Utility.
