There are several ways to search for text. The options are:

with all of the words Returns documents containing all of the words specified (for example "BGP neighbors" will return any document which has both "BGP" and "neighbors"). Note: Common words are ignored by the search engine to increase the performance. If the common word is required to get the results you want, you can include it by putting a "+" plus sign in front of it. For example, to search for information on the modem 'at' commands, use "+at commands"
with the exact phrase Returns documents containing the words that appear together in a particular sequence (for example "code red" will return only documents where those words appear together and in that order)
with at least one of the words When you’re not sure which words are commonly used for a topic, this search returns documents that contain at least one of the words (for example, if you are looking for some information on encryption capabilities, enter "IPsec des" to return all documents about IPSec OR des)
without the words When a word might have meaning with more than one subject, this search returns documents that do not include those words (for example, if you want to find information on Firewalls, but are not interested in the PIX product, you could search for all of the words="Firewall" and without the words= "PIX" to see documents about firewalls that don't contain the word PIX)
Occurrences Allows you to specify results that contain your search phrase:
  • anywhere in the page
  • in the title of the page
  • in the URL of the page

This feature is only available when searching:

  • All of Cisco.com
  • Technical Support & Documentation
  • News@Cisco
Location Allows you to target your search to the content of a specific country and language. Note: this feature is only available when searching "All of Cisco.com."
