Getting Started with Installation

The goal of this process is that you will successfully install the required components for your application.

Before You Begin: Complete the Planning process, including identifying needed components and familiarizing yourself with all detailed product requirements and important concepts for the application you are implementing. Have available the Cisco EGW Installation Worksheet completed during planning. If you have not completed it, do so now. (Right-click the link to download the worksheet.)

When You Are Done: Go on to the Configuring and Provisioning process.

You can find installation instructions in either of two ways:

If you know the specific component you want to install, go directly to its installation documentation in the Installation Tasks by Component chart.
If you know your application but not which components you need to install, go to the Installation Tasks by Application chart.

The order in which you install components does not matter.

Installation Tasks by Component

Some of these tasks may not be necessary for your application.

Task	Details
Install Cisco CallManager	The linked document includes: A link to the component's installation guide Any specifics for installing this component in the Cisco EGW application
Install the Cisco Unity server	The linked document includes: A link to the component's installation guide Any specifics for installing this component in the Cisco EGW application
Install DPNSS gateway(s)	Install the appropriate platform. Refer to the hardware column in the chart in Identifying Components. Install the software: IOS 12.3(4)T
Install QSIG gateway(s)	Install the appropriate platform. Refer to the hardware column in the chart in Identifying Components. Install the software: IOS 12.3(4)T
Install an H.323 gatekeeper (optional for H.323 Signaling Interface between Cisco EGW and Cisco CallManager)	Install the appropriate platform, as described in the H.323 Gatekeeper Detailed Requirements. Install the software: Cisco IOS 12.3(4)T
Install a PSTN gateway	Install the appropriate platform. Refer to the hardware column in the chart in Identifying Components. Install the software: For all but Cisco AS 5300: IOS 12.3(4)T Cisco AS 5300: IOS 12.3(5)
Install the Cisco EGW 2200 Enterprise Gateway	The linked document provides complete instructions for installing the Cisco EGW 2200 hardware and software.

Installation Tasks by Application

Application	Tasks
IP PBX Cisco CallManager application	Install the Cisco CallManager. Install the DPNSS media gateway(s). Install the appropriate platform. Refer to the hardware column in the chart in Identifying Components. Install the software: IOS 12.3(4)T Optionally, install the H.323 gatekeeper: Install the appropriate platform, as described in the H.323 Gatekeeper Detailed Requirements. Install the software: Cisco IOS 12.3(4)T Install the Cisco EGW 2200 Enterprise Gateway.
Cisco Unity messaging application	Install the Cisco Unity server. (Optional) Install a Cisco SIP Proxy Server. Install the gateway: DPNSS media gateway: Install the appropriate platform. Refer to the hardware column in the chart in Identifying Components. Install the software: IOS 12.3(4)T QSIG media gateway Install the appropriate platform. Refer to the hardware column in the chart in Identifying Components. Install the software: IOS 12.3(4)T Install the Cisco EGW 2200 Enterprise Gateway
Tandem Signaling and Toll Bypass	Install the DPNSS or QSIG media gateways.
Optionally, add PSTN network access	Install the PSTN media gateway: Install the appropriate platform. Refer to the hardware column in the chart in Identifying Components. Install the software: Cisco AS 5350, 5400, 5850: IOS 12.3(4)T Cisco AS 5300: IOS 12.3(5)
