Getting Started with Configuring and Provisioning

The goal of this process is for you to do the following:

  • Understand the tasks required to configure and provision your application.
  • Configure Cisco EGW with your preferences.
  • Provision your selected applications. Provisioning includes configuring all required network components to communicate with Cisco EGW. Depending on your selected application, this may include provisioning Cisco CallManager and PBX access gateways (media gateways configured for DPNSS), an H.323 gatekeeper, or a PRI gateway.
  • Verify that the network is successfully configured and provisioned.

Before You Begin: Complete the Installation process for all components required in your application. If you are installing Cisco EGW as a redundant pair, install both Cisco EGWs and determine which will be the initial active system and which will be the standby. Also make sure you have completed planning for provisioning and have the Right-click to download Word file Cisco EGW Provisioning Worksheet available.

When You Are Done: After you verify communication among components, your network is ready to place in service. Go on to the Operating process for information on ongoing management of your network.

Major Tasks

Tip

For Cisco EGW provisioning tasks, be sure to use Cisco EGW Administration online help, which provides component details and assistance on overall provisioning. Cisco IPT Platform Administration also has online help for platform functions.

To open Cisco EGW Administration help, click the Help link at the right of the window:

Help opens to the welcome page, at the right, and the Contents and Index panes at the left. The organization matches that of Cisco EGW Administration. If you do not know where to look for a component or property, you can search for it by clicking Search.
