TECHNOLOGY DEMO'S

Wireless LANs enable users to establish and maintain a wireless network connection throughout or between buildings, without the limitations of wires or cables. Cisco provides a family of wireless LAN products that combine the mobility and flexibility users want from a wireless LAN product with the throughput and security they demand from a enterprise LAN.

Products and solutions shown as part of the Wireless and IP Mobility demonstration are:

The Cisco Structured Wireless-Aware Network (SWAN)

SWAN is a framework to integrate and extend wired and wireless networks to deliver the lowest possible total cost of ownership for companies deploying wireless LANs (WLANs). Cisco SWAN extends "wireless awareness" into important elements of the network infrastructure, providing the same level of security, scalability, reliability, ease of deployment, and management for wireless LANs that organizations have come to expect from their wired LANs.

Aironet 1200 Access Point

The Cisco Aironet 1200 Series Access Point sets the enterprise standard for high performance and secure, manageable, and flexible wireless LANs (WLANs). The modular design of the Cisco Aironet 1200 Series allows single or dual radio configuration for up to 54-Mbps connectivity in both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands and is fully compliant with the IEEE 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g standards.

CiscoWorks Wireless Lan Solution Engine

The CiscoWorks WLSE is a centralized, systems-level solution for managing the entire Cisco Aironet wireless LAN (WLAN) infrastructure. The advanced radio frequency (RF) and device management features of the CiscoWorks WLSE simplify the everyday operation of WLANs, ensure smooth deployment, enhance security, and maximize network availability, while reducing deployment and operating expense. The CiscoWorks WLSE enables administrators to detect, locate, and mitigate rogue access points and RF interference. The assisted site survey feature automates the previously manual, expensive, and time consuming process of determining optimal access point settings including transmit power and channel selection. The CiscoWorks WLSE automatically configures access points and bridges, assures the consistent application of security policies, and proactively monitors faults and performance

Cisco Wireless Security Suite

The Cisco Wireless Security Suite for Cisco Aironet® products fulfills the need for a consistent, reliable, and secure mobile networking solution. The Cisco Wireless Security Suite provides industry-leading enterprise-class security services. Based on the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc. (IEEE) 802.1X standard and many innovative Cisco enhancements, this solution provides reliable, scalable and centralized security management with mutual authentication and dynamic encryption features to protect the privacy of transmitted data.

Mobile IP Client

Birdstep's Intelligent Mobile IP Client is a client-based application that allows users and applications to seamlessly connect and reconnect across different types of infrastructures without application down time or user intervention. The Birdstep Mobile IP Client has followed an open, standards-based approach to provide seamless roaming for operators and enterprises

Wireless Lan Services Module

The Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Wireless LAN Services Module (WLSM) is a key component of the Cisco Structured Wireless-Aware Network (SWAN) framework. The Catalyst 6500 Series WLSM delivers fully integrated wireless services into the award-winning Catalyst 6500 Series switch for enterprises, midsize businesses, universities, and service providers who want an enterprise-class wired and wireless LAN with simplified management, security, scalability and mobility.
