The security demonstration centres on modelling a real-world architecture of a central office/branch office organisation.
We use Cisco Integrated Network Security Solutions in this mock organization to effectively show how to protect productivity gains and reduce network operating costs. The comprehensive security offering from Cisco combines a management framework, hardware devices, identity services, software functionalities, and applications into a single, secure infrastructure. We also demonstrate the Cisco Self-Defending Network, an initiative to increase network intelligence in order to enable the network to automatically identify, prevent, and adapt to security threats.
Specific products and features we demonstrate are:
MARS
We will demonstrate a solution for faster mitigation of intrusion attempts or attacks, including worm or virus outbreaks mainly in branch office and remote access networks in a dynamic and highly automated fashion based on information collected from intrusion activity sensors distributed around the enterprise network. Thanks to its ability to correlate events from various security solutions, MARS is capable to dramatically reduce the number of possible attack to investigate by only reporting relevant incidents.
Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA)
The ASA 5500 Series Adaptive Security Appliances are purpose-built solutions that combine best-of-breed security and VPN services with an innovative Adaptive Identification and Mitigation (AIM) architecture. Designed as a key component of the Cisco Self-Defending Network, the Cisco ASA 5500 Series provides proactive threat defense that stops attacks before they spread through the network, controls network activity and application traffic, and delivers flexible VPN connectivity. We will demonstrate its ability to deeply inspect packet up to the application layer in order to prevent malformed crafted packet (http and ftp), tunneled application (P2P or IM).
Cisco Security Agent (CSA)
Cisco Security Agent provides threat protection for server and desktop computing systems, also known as endpoints. It identifies and prevents malicious behavior, thereby eliminating known and unknown ("Day Zero") security risks and helping to reduce operational costs. The Cisco Security Agent aggregates and extends multiple endpoint security functions by providing host intrusion prevention, distributed firewall capabilities, malicious mobile code protection, operating system integrity assurance, and audit log consolidation, all within a single product. Using version 4.5 will demonstrate its ability to take in account the user profile, but also the localization thanks to different languages supported by the user interface.
Network Admission Control (NAC)
Network Admission Control (NAC) is a Cisco Systems sponsored industry initiative that uses the network infrastructure to enforce security policy compliance on all devices seeking to access network computing resources, thereby limiting damage from viruses and worms. Using NAC, organizations can provide network access to endpoint devices such as PCs, PDAs, and servers that are verified to be fully compliant with established security policy. NAC can also identify noncompliant devices and deny them access, place them in a quarantined area, or give them restricted access to computing resources. With Phase 2, we will be able to demonstrate the integration with 802.1x, providing the ability to allocate the end-point to a different vlan depending of its security compliance, but also the integration with 3 rd party vendors for the remediation.

This demo focus's on how the intelligence of the network can be used to interact with a stock trading application.
It shows 3 use cases:
The user registers to be notified if a given stock drops below a certain value. If such an event is captured in the network the user will be alerted on his IP phone
The user issues a stock trade request. The network is used to intercept this request that is sent via SOAP over HTML, convert the message format from FIX to FIXML and changes the transport protocol to interface the trading application that is using an MQ queue
Policies can be embedded in the network that will trigger an alarm when violated, for example in this demo we use the policy that a supervisor must be notified when a user tries to trade a large number of shares (100,000)
Virtualization (I/O, Host) and High Performance Computing with Infiniband (SFS, v-frame, MDS)
Cisco provides intelligent interconnect solutions based on Infiniband technology, designed for the data-center computing needs, for
- High-Performance Computing
to achieve supercomputing performance at commodity computing prices.
- Grid / Utility Computing
to dynamically provision computing resources on demand.
- Database Clusters
to scale distributed databases to meet their full potential.
This demo will concentrate on the last two items. The solution with a 10Gbps, low-latency Infiniband fabric simultaneously uses the underlying fabric for networking, interprocess communication, and storage, and therefore reduces the number of host adapters to just one, including the redundant second port. By creating virtual storage and network adapters in each server, traffic is aggregate and load balanced across virtual interfaces, providing for peak loads and improving high availability
VFrame software embeds policy and provisioning intelligence into the server switch hardware. This intelligence enables the server switch to automatically create virtual servers with the right combination of resources at the right time, based on policies defined by the data center manager. As conditions change, the server switch is programmed to add and remove resources from virtual servers as necessary.
The IP in Motion area will illustrate the connected moving fleet environment. Demonstrating currently deployed application in the public transport environment, we will be able to show the on-board Mobile router and the application devices attached, together with the Mobile IP architecture which allows seamless Wireless WAN connectivity through WLAN, EDGE and more...
Cisco Integrated Services Routers (ISRs) bring together IP telephony, firewall, intrusion protection and data for a highly integrated router, all managed from the easy-to-use Security Device Manager. This demonstration will showcase how the Cisco Business Communication Solution builds on the Cisco ISR platform to provide a "right-sized" solution for the smaller office location.
