Products Affected
IPS MC
Problem Description
For IPS MC version 2.1 and later, the certificate for two signed jar files - ctm.jar and SigTunerApplet.jar - will expire on June 29, 2006.
After the certificates expire, users will begin to receive warning messages regarding the certificate whenever those jar files are loaded for execution. See the image in the Problem Symptoms section for a sample expiration message.
Background
Certificates provide a method for secure information exchange. They have a limited lease time in which they are valid. Once the date of validity is passed, connection attempts cause the browser to display a prompt which will allow the user to proceed in spite of the expired certificate.
Problem Symptoms
The jar file in question will pause during loading with the following display:
Workaround/Solution
For IPS MC version 2.1, customers must upgrade to IPS MC 2.2 and then apply Service Pack 1.
For IPS MC version 2.2, customers should apply Service Pack 1.
Alternatively, the user may elect to load and execute the jar file, in spite of the expired certificate, by selecting "Run".
