CWWLSE-1130-K9 |
Cisco Wireless LAN Solution Engine 2.0 and 2.5 |
Problem Description
Any operation that writes to /var partition will return with an error such as lack of disk space as one example.
Background
During the manufacturing process, Wireless LAN Solution Engine (WLSE) 2.0 was imaged with the wrong partition sizes.
Problem Symptoms
A /var command such as backup will fail with ERROR: Cannot created file in /var/tmp. Command line interface (CLI) commands may also fail. For example, admin@testwlse:show tech
/bin/cat: write error: No space left on device /bin/cat: write error: No space left on device /bin/cat: write error: No space left on device /bin/cat: write error: No space left on device
To verify if the unit is affected:
Log in to the WLSE
From the command line interface, enter the df command. The output will appear as:

The /var partition size displayed is 1.9 G, which is incorrect.
Workaround/Solution
If the unit has already run out of disk space, re-image the box by booting with the 2.5 recovery CD.
-
Download and create the 2.5 Recovery CD from ISO images from Cisco Connection Online
-
. Re-assemble and create the CD-ROM following the README file WLSE-2.5-K9.ISO-Readme-V1.txt
-
Follow the procedure Local Installation of Recovery CD using the CD-ROM drive of appliance to re-image the WLSE
-
Restore the data back again
Do not use the first method listed in the README Remote installation of Recovery CD using Win2K based PC, as it will not fix this problem
If a disk space error has not occurred, there may be sufficient space to run a backup. Apply the patch or re-image the box with either the 2.0 image or 2.5 recovery CD and restore the data from the backup. Follow the README file WLSE-2.x-CSCsa06658-K9.readmeV1.txt to apply the patch to fix this issue. The patch will fail if there is insufficient space in the /var partition.
