Problem Description
Solder-ability issue with BellFuse digital signal level 1 (DS1) transformer on above products that causes the Bellfuse transformer to either partially or completely come off of the board.
Only those customers with affected products, as listed above, including the revision, having serial numbers with week codes as listed in the following table, are asked to request an RMA replacement.
Background
The incorrect plating or coating was applied to the leads of the transformer, causing adhesion issues with the soldering process on the board. This causes the Bellfuse transformer to come either partially or completely off of the board. This will affect digital signal level 1 (DS1) service and DS1's will not come up.
Problem Symptoms
The incorrect plating or coating on this particular batch of transformers causes the transformer to come off of the board either partially or completely. This will affect DS1 service and DS1's will not come up.
Workaround/Solution
Cisco recommends Fix on Failure. Customers with products shown above should request a replacement RMA of these products with defective the transformer upon failure of this board.
How To Identify Hardware Levels
Customers may utilize Cisco Transport Controller (CTC) or Cisco Transport Manager (CTM) to note revision level via software or may physically note via the 800 level product number indicated on the board itself.
