All BBSM Servers upgrading from version 5.1 to version 5.2 |
This notice is only applicable to BBSM servers utilizing the site controller feature of BBSM to remotely control BBSM servers. BBSM servers not running the site controller feature may ignore this notice. |
Problem Description
BBSM servers being upgraded from version 5.1 to 5.2 will not be compatible with version 5.1 of thesite controller. The result is that the site controller will no longer be interoperable with BBSM.
Background
An upgrade utility to bring BBSM 5.1 compatible site controllers into compliance with BBSM 5.2 is not available at this time. Failure to follow this process will result in a loss of communication with the site controller and the associated remote BBSM server(s).
Contact BBSU Product Management for assistance prior to performing any BBSM Version 5.2 upgrade.
Problem Symptoms
Remote BBSM servers deployed in the central office configuration will lose communication the remote site through the site controller after upgrading from BBSM v5.1 to BBSM v5.2
Workaround/Solution
Contact BBSU Product Management to obtain explicit instructions as to how this process should be performed to minimize the risk of downtime, and ensure a successful upgrade occur.
An upgrade utility will be released in the first quarter, 2003. This utility will be run locally, not remotely, on BBSM 5.1 compatible site controllers to bring them in compliance.
