Problem Description
After installing the CallManager win-OS-upgrade-2000-2-3.exe patch on an SPE310 running Unity, Unity stops working.
Background
CallManager OS Upgrade un-installs the following:
-
Windows NT system services SMTP and NNTP, which are required for Microsoft Exchange.

Windows NT system service Message Queueing, which is required for Unity related services.
Problem Symptoms
The Unity application does not work after upgrading Microsoft Windows 2000 with win-OS-upgrade-2000-2-3.exe.
Workaround/Solution
To Re-install NNTP and SMTP

Re-install NNTP and SMTP:

Click Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Configure Your Server > Advanced > Optional Components > Start.

Click IIS > Details.
-
Select NNTP and SMTP by clicking on the appropriate check boxes.
-
Click Next.
-
You will be prompted with a message to Insert Disk ....
-
Click OK > Browse > c\w2ks\servicepackfiles\i386 > ims.cab > Open > OK.
-
Let the installation of NNTP and SMTP finish.

Click Finish.
-
Close the Windows 2000 Configure Your Server window
-
(Optional) Click Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Services and attempt to start the relevant MS Exchange services.

Re-install Message Queuing:
-
Click Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Configure Your Server > Advanced > Optional Components > Start.

Click Message Queuing.
-
Click OK > Next > Next > Next.

You will be prompted with a message to Please insert the floppy disk with Service Pack 2.

Point the browser to c:\w2ks\system32\dllcache\MQSEC.DLL.
-
When prompted for MQLOGMGR.dll, click the Cancel button.
