All Cisco Building Broadband Service Manager (BBSM) Servers with Patch 1067 installed using Catalyst 2950 and 3550 Switches with Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.1(11)EA1 |
This notice is only applicable to BBSM servers updated with Patch1067 using Catalyst 2950 and 3550 Switches with Cisco IOS Software Release 12.1(11)EA1 |
Problem Description
BBSM servers which have been updated with Patch 1067 using Catalyst 2950 and 3550 switches with Cisco IOS Software Release 12.1(11)EA1 show two extra ports in the port map. The two Gigabit Ethernet ports in 2950 and 3550 are marked as uplink in the database
Background
This is because the hardware is present for the extra two ports but they are not available for use. There are only 12 (in the 2950/3550-12), 24 (in the 2950/3550-24), or 48 (in the 2950/3550-48) physically addressable ports for use. The two extra ports are normally GBIC ports. This particular switch version does not use GBIC ports.
Workaround/Solution
Verify that the extra ports are marked as uplink ports.
