Problem Description
After a firmware upgrade, Cisco Photonics Toolkit (PTK) can lose the control of some of the previousy upgraded units. This will only happen in the following cases.

Firmware upgrade from Cisco ONS 15800 Release 1.6.0 or Cisco ONS 15801 Release 1.4.0 (Spring Base Release) to any Spring sustaining release.

Firmware upgrade from Cisco ONS 15800 Release 1.6.0 or Cisco ONS 15801 Release 1.4.0 (Spring Base Release) to any Cisco ONS 15800 or 15801 Release 2.0 (Emerald) release.
Note: An upgrade from one Spring sustaining release to another is not affected.
Note: Applicability is limited to the above specified units.
Background
The upgrade procedure described is not traffic affecting. All the steps described below are part of the standard Firmware Upgrade Procedure as described in the Cisco PTK Software Administration Manual.
Problem Symptoms
Recently upgraded units are neither visible nor manageable from the craft terminal after a reset.
Workaround/Solution
The procedure, described within the paragraphs below, is intended for a single Network Element (NE).
It is mandatory to use the following sequence of steps.

Download (Multiple Download if the node has more than one board to be downloaded) through Cisco PTK, the new application firmware version on modules listed above.

On each card, activate the firmware item downloaded in step 1 issuing the Cisco PTK board reset command.

Download (Multiple Download if the node has more than one board to be downloaded), through Cisco PTK, a new Slave SCC firmware version on modules listed above.

Activate the firmware item downloaded in step 3 on each card issuing the Cisco PTK board reset command.
