Problem Description
The Network Edge and Aggregation Routing Group has decided to issue an end of life for the Cisco VPN 5001 Concentrator product line. To expedite the transition to other Cisco products, the Network Edge and Aggregation Routing Group offered an upgrade to the Cisco VPN 3030 Concentrator product. This upgrade offer ended on August 26, 2002.
Background
Development on the Cisco VPN 5000 Concentrator is being discontinued for several reasons.
-
To eliminate internal product overlap with other Cisco product families that are better suited to meet customer business objectives
-
To speed new features to market
-
To reallocate strategic engineering resources. Further, migrating Cisco customers from the Cisco VPN 5000 Concentrator will realign VPN client development on the Cisco Unified Client Framework, emphasizing Cisco's competitive advantage of one IPSec VPN client for all Cisco IPSec VPN products.
Problem Symptoms
There are no problem symptoms. This is an end of life upgrade program announcement.
