Problem Description
Cisco IOS® Software Releases 12.1(8b)EX2 and 12.1(8b)EX3 for the Catalyst 6000 incorrectly enable diagnostics run condition to "complete." This issue is documented in the bug CScdw53252.
Background
On line diagnostics for Cisco IOS Software Releases on the Catalyst 6000 have not reached the level of stability required for Cisco to release, but the code is present in the latest EX releases. When upgrading to Cisco IOS Software Release 12.1(8b)EX2 or 12.1(8b)EX3, online diagnostics will be enabled erroneously due to an initialization error.
Problem Symptoms
The following error message may be seen on all modules if diagnostics are enabled.
00:01:03: %DIAG-SP-3-MINOR_HW: Module 1: Online Diagnostics detected Minor Hardware Error
Workaround/Solution
To avoid this condition, enter the following commands:
Router# configure terminal
Router(config-r)# diagnostic level bypass
Router(config-r)# end
Router# write memory
