Problem Description
The Cisco 827 Router and the Cisco 827-4V Router ship with an ADSL straight-thru cable. Depending on how their ADSL cable was provisioned, some customers might need an ADSL crossover cable.
Background
The ADSL straight-thru cable ships with the Cisco 827 and the Cisco 827-4V. The straight-thru cable maps pins 3 & 4 on the router's side to pins 3 & 4 on the ADSL wall jack. The crossover cable maps pins 3 & 4 on the router's side to pins 2 & 5 on the ADSL wall jack.
Problem Symptoms
The Cisco 827 and the Cisco 827-4V will not train to the ADSL circuit. It is possible that your ISP/Telco has provisioned your ADSL circuit on RJ-11 pins 2 and 5, not pins 3 and 4.
Workaround/Solution
Customers may build a crossover cable by following the diagram (/en/US/docs/routers/access/1400/hardware/installation/guide/cables.html#xtocid214333) or complete the upgrade to receive an ADSL crossover cable. This cable crosses RJ11 pins 2 and 5 to RJ11 pins 3 and 4.
