Switched Major Node Questions
-
Is the switched major node active?
-
Is the node/physical unit (PU) active in the switched major node?
-
In the switched major node, do the ID Block and exchange identification (XID) number match those in the controller?
-
Are the PATH macros correct?
Note: PATH macro is only used when Virtual Telecommunications Access Method (VTAM) initiates the Logical Link Control, type 2 (LLC2) connection. If VTAM dial out is configured, and if the end device is configured to initiate the connection, then the PATH macro is not required.
XCA Major Node Questions
-
Is the External Communication Adapter (XCA) major node active?
-
Is the corresponding adapter number defined on the Channel Interface Processor (CIP) correct?
-
Is the medium correct?
-
Is the cuaddr correct?
-
Is the service access point (SAP) correct?
-
Are there enough static or auto-gen lines configured?
End Station Node Questions
-
Is the remote MAC address configured on the end station node correct?
-
Does the remote SAP value of the end station match the SAP value of the XCA major node?
-
Is the Traffic Generator (TGN) correct?
Note: This is only for PU4 to PU4. If you are connecting a PU2.0 or PU2.1 to the CIP, this question does not apply.
-
Is the end station node sub area correct (PU4 to PU4)?
Note: This question does not apply when connecting PU2.0 or PU2.1 to the CIP.
-
Were enough lines and PUs configured?
-
Has the 4000 MAX-LLC2-SESSIONS value on the CIP been exceeded, maximum value 6000, default 256?
Router Questions
-
Is the ring group command correct?
source-bridge ring-group statement
-
Is the source-bridge command correct?
T/R, Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI), and internal LAN? Remote source-route bridging (RSRB), Synchronous Data Logical Link Control (SDLLC), Qualified Logical Link Conrol (QLLC), Advanced Peer-to-Peer Networking (APPN), downstream physical unit (DSPU)?
-
Are either the CIP physical interfaces or the CIP internal interface shutdown administratively?
-
Are internal adapters configured?
-
Does the internal adapter number match the value of adapno macro in the XCA?
-
Are the MAC addresses on internal adapters correct?
-
Are bridge groups correct on Ethernet, FDDI, and internal LANs?
-
Are routers LAN and WAN interfaces shutdown?
-
