Introduction

This document provides the useful commands to display the status of Cisco Systems Network Architecture (CSNA), including the SNMP MIBs for management purposes.

Prerequisites

Requirements

Readers of this document should have knowledge of how to configure Cisco CIP and xCPA for a number of software applications, as well as for SNA connectivity and IBM protocol support. Refer to Configuring CSNA and CMPC.

Components Used

This document is not restricted to specific software and hardware versions.

The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.

Conventions

For more information on document conventions, refer to the Cisco Technical Tips Conventions.

CSNA Network Management Console Support

show Commands

  • show source-bridge

  • show source-bridge interface

CSNA show Commands

  • show extended channel slot/[0 | 1] csna [path [device]] [admin | oper | stat]

  • show extended channel slot/2 lan [ethernet | tokenring | fddi [lan-id [adapter-num]]]

  • show extended channel slot/2 max-llc2-sessions

  • show extended channel slot/2 llc2 [admin | oper | stat] [localmac [localsap [remmac [remsap]]]]

  • show extended channel slot/2 connection-map llc2

CSNA Event Notifications

debug channel events sna

Displays all CSNA/LLC2 events on the Router Processor (RP) console.

CSNA Event Descriptions

  • Open SAP failed/Duplicate detected

  • Connection attempt failed/No connection resources

LLC2 Event Descriptions

  • Connection failed/Link lost

  • Connection failed/Received Disconnect Mode (DM) in asynchronous balanced mode (ABM)

  • Connection failed/Received set asynchronous balanced mode extended (SABME) while in ABM

  • Connection failed/FRMR rxd - invalid cmd/rsp

  • Connection failed/FRMR rxd - unexpected I-frame

  • Connection failed/FRMR rxd - invalid Nr

  • Connection failed/FRMR rxd - I-field too long

  • Connection failed/FRMR txd - invalid cmd/rsp

  • Connection failed/FRMR txd - unexpected I-frame

  • Connection failed/FRMR txd - invalid Nr

  • Connection failed/FRMR txd - I-field too long

CSNA NetView Support

show Commands

All CSNA show commands can be issued from a NetView console, with RUNCMDs as the underlying transport to send the show command to the router’s Service Point.

Alerts

CSNA events are converted to NetView Generic Alerts and sent to the host through the NetView Entry Point.

CSNA SNMP Support

CSNA SNMP Management Information Base (MIB)

CISCO-CIPCSNA-MIB

This MIB provides SNMP management of configuration, status, and statistics for CSNA support on the CIP card.

For release 11.0, all objects in this MIB are implemented as read-only.

This MIB consists of these tables:

  • cipCardCsnaAdminTable

  • cipCardCsnaOperTable

  • cipCardCsnaStatsTable

  • cipCardSessionsAdminTable

  • cipCardSessionsOperTable

  • cipCardSesionsStatsTable

  • cipCardCsnaConnTable

This MIB relates to these router console commands:

  • config csna

  • config max-llc2-sessions

  • show extended channel 0/0 csna

  • show extended channel 0/2 max-llc2-sessions

  • show extended channel 0/2 connection-map sna

CISCO-CIPLAN-MIB

This MIB provides SNMP management of configuration for CSNA internal LAN support on the CIP card.
