Accelerate Revenues with Converged Fixed-Mobile Voice and Messaging Services
Subscribers want to lower their total voice and messaging costs, especially their mobile phone bills. Many even want to eliminate the need for a fixed line. Fixed-mobile convergence brings the promise of these benefits while improving the coverage and signal strength of mobile calls made in the home. At the same time, mobile operators want to lower operating expenses yet still offer value-added, attractive services that help reduce customer turnover and gain new revenues.
Cisco IP NGN Difference
Mobile operators can lower costs by offloading voice and messaging traffic from the mobile Radio Access Network (RAN) to WiFi networks and transporting it securely over a Cisco IP Next Generation Network (IP NGN). Operators can accomplish this by providing subscribers with dual-mode mobile phones (WiFi and GSM) along with the optimized Cisco Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with 2 Phone Ports (WRTU54G), which supports Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA)/Generic Access Network (GAN) technologies. Users benefit because they can make and receive calls and text messages from their homes (or public hotspots) over WiFi. When they are out of range of the Cisco Linksys router, calls and text messages are seamlessly routed over the GSM mobile network.
With the analog phone support on the WRTU54G router, mobile operators can also gain new revenues by enabling subscribers to port their existing landline number to the converged dual-mode service.
