  1. Configure Voice Mail Ports in Unified CallManager
  2. Configure Message Waiting
  3. Configure Voice Mail Pilot
  4. Configure Voice Mail Profile
  5. Configure Line Group
  6. Configure Hunt List
  7. Configure Hunt Pilot
  8. Configure Gateways to Enable Redirecting Number IE Delivery
  9. Integrate Unity, Add Subscribers, and Configure Alternate Extensions (as described in Unity Voice Mail Interactive Voice Network Configuration Example)

  11. Configure SRST to Forward Calls No-Answer to Voice Mail (as described in SRST Voice Mail Interactive Voice Network Configuration Example)
  12. Verify the Voice Mail Configuration (as described in Voice Mail Interactive Voice Network Testing and Verification)

This document describes steps 1 through 8. For information about the other steps in this procedure, refer to the appropriate documents.

Configure Voice Mail Ports in Unified CallManager

  1. Click Feature > Voice Mail > Cisco Voice Mail Port > Add a New Voice Mail Port.

  2. Enter configuration details as shown in this image:

Note: This example configures the external number mask and AAR group in order to allow voice mail to redirect over PSTN when AAR is activated. Also note that if you use an external number mask above then any outgoing calls from Unity will show the external number mask as part of the caller ID. If you configure extension numbers in Unity Telephony Integration Manager (UTIM), then you must also use the full E164 number (for example, 40855551601). Refer to Unity Voice Mail Interactive Voice Network Configuration Example for more information.

  3. Repeat these steps in order to configure different directory numbers (DNs) and masks for each voice mail port up to what your Unity license allows. This example uses four (4) ports. However, only three (3) ports answer calls, and one port is dedicated for dialing out message-waiting indication (MWI) and message notifications (port 1604).

Note: This configuration example includes only the three (3) answering ports in the line group configuration (Step 5. Configure Line Group); otherwise, calls to 1604 are not answered by Unity. Refer to Unity Voice Mail Interactive Voice Network Configuration Example for more information.

Configure Message Waiting

  1. Click Feature > Voice Mail > Message Waiting > Add a New Message Waiting Number.

  2. Enter configuration details as shown in this image:

  3. Repeat these steps for the MWI Off extension.

Configure Voice Mail Pilot

  1. Click Feature > Voice Mail > Voice Mail Pilot > Add a New Voice Mail Pilot.

  2. Enter configuration details as shown in this image:

Configure Voice Mail Profile

  1. Click Feature > Voice Mail > Voice Mail Profile > Add a New Voice Mail Profile.

  2. Enter configuration details as shown in this image:

Note: This examples uses this profile as the default profile in order to assign phone DNs.

Configure Line Group

  1. Click Route Plan > Route/Hunt > Line Group > Add a New Line Group.

  2. Enter configuration details as shown in this image:

Note: Only three (3) ports answer calls, and one port is dedicated for dialing out MWI and message notifications (port 1604). This configuration example includes only the three (3) answering ports in the line group configuration; otherwise, calls to 1604 are not answered by Unity. Refer to Unity Voice Mail Interactive Voice Network Configuration Example for more information.
  3. In order to add the DNs for the voice mail ports you configured in Step 1. Configure Voice Mail Ports in Unified CallManager, select the appropriate route partition from the Route Partition drop-down menu, and click the Find button.

  4. Select the voice mail DNs from the Available DN/Route Partition list, and click Add to Line Group.

Configure Hunt List

  1. Click Route Plan > Route/Hunt > Hunt List > Add a New Hunt List.

  2. Click Add Line Group, and select the line group you configured in Configure Line Group.

Configure Hunt Pilot

  1. Click Route Plan > Route/Hunt > Hunt Pilot > Add a New Hunt Pilot.

  2. Enter the hunt pilot number, and then choose the partition from the Partition drop-down list.

Note: Ensure that this partition is included in the Calling Search Space for the DNs.

  3. Choose the hunt list you configured in Configure Hunt List from the Hunt List drop-down list.

  4. In order to allow calls that are rerouted through PSTN to reach the Unity Server and leave a voice mail, choose the AAR group from the AAR Group drop-down menu, and enter the external number mask as shown in this image:

Configure Gateways to Enable Redirecting Number IE Delivery

In order to allow gateways to forward redirected number information that is used by Unity, you must enable Redirecting Number IE Delivery as shown in this image:
