Introduction
This document provides instructions to install Windows Media Server and configure Windows Media in Cisco MeetingPlace Web on a Windows 2003 Server.

Install Windows Media Server
Perform these steps to install Windows Media Server.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, and click Add/Remove Windows Components.

In the Windows Components Wizard, check Windows Media Services, and click Details.

Make sure that Windows Media Services and Windows Media Services snap-in are checked.

Click OK to close the Window Media Services window, then click Next.

Insert the Windows 2003 CD. When prompted by the installer, click Finish.

Go to Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Windows Media Services.

In the Windows Media Services console, highight your server, then click the Properties tab in the right-hand panel.

In the Category section, click Control protocol (if it does not appear, check Show all plug-in categories).

In the right-hand panel, right-click WMS HTTP Server Control Protocol and select Properties. Change the Use other port (1-65535): to 8081 (the default port (80) conflicts with the Cisco MeetingPlace Web application in Internet Information Services [IIS]). Click OK, then right-click WMS HTTP Server Control Protocol and select Enable.

In the left-hand panel, expand Publishing Points and select <Default> (on-demand).

Click Action from the top menu and select Allow New Connections.

Go to Start > Administrative Tools > Computer Management. Expand Services and Applications, then click Services. Restart the Windows Media Service.
Configure Windows Media Server in MeetingPlace Web
Follow these steps to configure Windows Media Server in Cisco MeetingPlace Web.

Create a MPWeb/Meetings folder under <Drive>:\wmpub\WMRoot.

Log into Cisco MeetingPlace Web with a system manager profile.

Click Admin > Audio Conversion.

In the Windows Media Server Hostname field, enter the Windows Media Server IP address (same as the Cisco MeetingPlace Web server IP address).

In the Windows Media Server Path field, enter <Drive>:\wmpub\WMRoot.

Click Submit.
