Introduction
This document describes the required configurations for both the Cisco WAN Manager (CWM) and switch sides so that the Cisco WAN Manager can successfully discover the ATM network. The document also gives references for the Cisco WAN Manager documentation on Cisco.com.

The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.

Autoroute Network Discovery
Autoroute Network discovery is done through the link0/link1 process. In order to discover that network, the Cisco WAN Manager must use a gateway node reachable through the LAN interface of the switch. The Cisco WAN Manager must also use the SWSW IP Relay subsystem in order to be in communication with all switches that are part of the network through IP.
You can optimize this path when you select an optionally configurable method: in-band/out-of-band. In order to reach the IP Relay network, the Cisco WAN Manager must route to it. When the Cisco WAN Manager core starts, it discovers the network. The svmain process establishes link0 first with the gateway node and then link1 with all the nodes. Each type of message exchanged between the Cisco WAN Manager and the switches, using the Proprietary StrataView Protocol, follows one of these two logical links:

Link0—Consists of topology and maintenance messages between the Cisco WAN Manager and the gateway node.

Link1—Robust messages and Save/Restore configuration messages are sent over this path.
You can check this registration with the dspsv3 command.
PNNI Network discovery is performed through recursive SNMP polling, when you start from the gateway nodes.
For both networks, you must configure switches and the Cisco WAN Manager host.
Switches
Configure these on the switches.

Note: Do not change the service port number (5120) on BPX and IGX switches for autoroute networks.

Cisco WAN Manager configuration files—network.conf, svplus.conf, process.conf
