Early Deployment (ED) Release Summary
Description |
Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.0(7)XV is a one-time release optimized for Cisco 800 series routers (801 and 803). This release introduces support for Common-Application Programming Interface (CAPI) 2.0 (as opposed to a socket-based interface) that is designed to provide support for a wider variety of clients.
CAPI and Remote CAPI (RCAPI) provide the Windows application programming interface standard used by access ISDN equipment connected to basic rate interfaces (BRIs) and primary rate interfaces (PRIs). CAPI was initially deployed as a standard application programming interface (API) on PCs equipped with ISDN equipment (such as ISDN-terminal adapter (TA) cards). Using a PC equipped with an ISDN network connection and CAPI drivers, end-user communications applications are provided that run on multi-vendor ISDN hardware. The new ANSI C-compliant source code is compiled in the Windows environment into a C Library and C DLL binaries. The Cisco 800 provides low-end Cisco IOS Software-based router solutions. It is the natural upgrade for the Cisco 1003, Cisco 1004, and Cisco 700 series routers. For more information, see the following pages: |
