Cisco Monitor Director 1.1: A Cisco VAR Managed Service Provider (MSP) Solution
The surge of growth in the small and medium-business (SMB) segment of the networking market has created huge revenue potential for Cisco® partners and managed service providers. More than 90 percent of the world's economy consists of SMBs, making the impact of this segment huge. Cisco managed service providers can seize this opportunity by moving away from the reactive break-and-fix model and becoming proactive "trusted advisors" for their SMB customers. For partners to survive, they would need to support a high number of SMBs, helping them to migrate to advanced voice services with efficiency and quick turnarounds.
Introducing the Cisco Smart Business Communication Systems (SBCS) Initiative
Cisco SBCS empowers Cisco partners to rapidly transform the IT infrastructure of the small businesses to the best of breed Cisco Unified Communications technology with the least amount of time spent on site. Rapid deployment is supported through a targeted platform offering of Cisco Unified Communications 500 Series and Cisco best practice network configuration, Cisco Configuration Assistant and support for both data and telephony services. In addition to these areas, Cisco SBCS extends this offering by enabling our partner to become "trusted advisors" and have full visibility into their SMB customers' networks. Cisco SMB partners can migrate from the "drop and go" reactive business model to a more proactive engagement with their end-users. Using Cisco MSP monitoring solution products, partners will never feel that they are leaving behind their SMB customers and can take full ownership and responsibility of their SMB customers' networks. This new model allows partners to benefit from a monthly recurring business model that is instrumental to their survival.
Remote monitoring and management is the underlying technology for these managed services providing comprehensive visibility of devices and voice services installed at the SMB customers' sites. Increased customer satisfaction and trust can be strengthened through proactive monitoring of the end-user customer network.
Solution Overview
Cisco VAR Managed Service Provider Solution is a comprehensive management application designed solely for the SMB market. This solution encompasses two complementary components-Cisco Monitor Manager 1.1 and Cisco Monitor Director 1.1. The combination of these two applications offers an economical and scalable migration path for Cisco partners to migrate to managed services. The offering startup package enables partners to remotely monitor up to 5 SMB customers economically and scale to supporting up to 50 SMBs as partner business expands.
Deployed at the partner location, Cisco Monitor Director 1.1 is a centralized, proactive network management application for Cisco managed service providers planning to offer 24-hour, proactive voice and data network monitoring and management services to their SMB customers. It works in conjunction with the Cisco Monitor Manager application, which is deployed at many SMB corporate headquarters and remote offices. Cisco Monitor Manager collects customer network data and reports it back over a secure communication channel to Cisco Monitor Director, giving managed service providers secure access and visibility into the customers' networks.
The Cisco Monitor Manager and the Cisco Monitor Director products are offered as a combined solution for Cisco managed service providers that offer remote managed services. The solution includes a one-year software subscription license providing customers with product updates as they become available. Cisco Support Services, which include access to Cisco.com, minor software updates, and access to the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC), require the purchase of a Cisco Software Application Support (SAS) contract. A Cisco SAS contract can be purchased through normal Cisco sales channels. Please contact your local authorized Cisco partner or reseller for more details.
The Cisco Monitor Manager and the Cisco Monitor Director products are also offered without license keys for conducting 30-day evaluation trials and product demonstrations. At the end of the 30-day period, a license can be purchased to extend the use of each product beyond this timeframe. License renewals can be purchased at the end of each annual subscription period of deployment and use. Please use the product codes in Table 1 for ordering the appropriate package for your needs.
