The Cisco Smart Foundation Service is entry-level technical support service that provides the support that small businesses need to help them maintain network reliability and minimize disruption to business. The Cisco Smart Foundation service has been specifically designed for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and provides the easy, cost-effective network support businesses need to help ensure operational reliability, contain costs, and protect your investment on Cisco SMB Class networking solutions.

Announcement

As part of the Cisco Smart Services for Small and Medium Business portfolio introduction, Cisco SMB Support Assistant program has been renamed Cisco Smart Foundation. This will not change the way that you purchase the product, only the name by which it is referred. Part numbers will remain the same.

Additionally, with the launch of the Smart Business Communications System (SBCS) as well as SMARTnet for SBCS Service, voice and unified communications products will cease to be supported by Smart Foundation. The End of Sale for Smart Foundation coverage of Call Manager Express and Unity Express will be October 26, 2007 and End of Support will be October 24, 2008*.

Small and Medium-sized businesses will have the choice of traditional networking, wireless and security support with Smart Foundation or Unified Communications support with SMARTnet for SBCS Service. For UC and Voice products outside of the SBCS solution Cisco SMARTnet Service is available.
