Table of ContentsProcessor Card Cable and Port PinoutsProcessor Card Cable and Port PinoutsThis appendix lists the pinouts for the Ethernet cable connector and the ports on the processor card in the following sections: Note Pins not listed are not connected. Ethernet Cable Connector PinoutsThe Ethernet port on the processor card is an RJ-45 receptacle. Table B-1 lists the Ethernet cable connector pinouts. Table B-1:
Auxiliary Port PinoutsThe auxiliary port on the processor card is an EIA/TIA-232 DTE, DB-25 plug to which you can attach a channel service unit/data service unit (CSU/DSU), or other equipment, to access the switch from the network. Table B-2 lists the auxiliary port pinouts. Note EIA/TIA-232 were formerly known as recommended standard RS-232 before its acceptance as a standard by the Electronic Industries Association (EIA) and Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA). Table B-2:
Note The auxiliary port is not available on the Catalyst 8540 MSR processor card. Console Port PinoutsThe console port on the processor card is an EIA/TIA-232, data communications equipment (DCE), DB-25 receptacle. Both data set ready (DSR) and data carrier detect (DCD) are active when the system is running. The Request To Send (RTS) signal tracks the state of the Clear To Send (CTS) input. The console port does not support modem control or hardware flow control. The console port requires a straight-through EIA/TIA-232 cable. Table B-3 lists the console port pinouts. Table B-3:
