FCC Class B ComplianceThe equipment described in this document generates and may radiate radio-frequency energy. If it is not installed in accordance with Cisco's installation instructions, it may cause interference with radio and television reception. This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device in accordance with the specifications in part 15 of the FCC rules. These specifications are designed to provide reasonable protection against such interference in a residential installation. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. You can determine whether your equipment is causing interference by turning it off. If the interference stops, it was probably caused by the Cisco equipment or one of its peripheral devices. If the equipment causes interference to radio or television reception, try to correct the interference by using one or more of the following measures:
Modifications to this product not authorized by Cisco Systems, Inc. could void the FCC approval and negate your authority to operate the product. Required Tools and EquipmentInstallation might require some tools and equipment that are not provided as standard equipment with the router. Following are the tools and parts required for a typical router installation:
Mounting the Chassis in a RackThis section describes the procedures for rack-mounting the chassis. The chassis comes with brackets for use with a 19-inch rack or, if specified in your order, optional larger brackets for use with a 23- or 24-inch rack. Figure 1 shows the two types of brackets. To prevent bodily injury when mounting or servicing this unit in a rack, you must take special precautions to ensure that the system remains stable. The following guidelines are provided to ensure your safety:
Figure 1: Identifying the Brackets
Attaching the BracketsTo install the chassis in a rack, attach the brackets in one of the following ways:
Note Use the Cisco-supplied screws for this installation. Note If you are installing a Cisco 2600 series router in a 19-inch rack with a 17.5-inch opening, orient the rack-mount brackets so that, when installed, they do not increase the width of the chassis. (See Figure 2.) If you are installing a Cisco 2600 series router in a 19-inch EIA-standard rack with a 17.75-inch opening or a 23- or 24-inch rack, orient the rack-mount brackets so that, when installed, they increase the width of the chassis. (See Figure 3.) Note The following illustrations show how to connect the bracket to one side of the chassis. The second bracket connects to the opposite side of the chassis. Note When installed in a 19-inch rack with a 17.75-inch opening, the Cisco 2600 series routers will protrude beyond the front of the rack. Figure 3: Bracket InstallationFront Panel Forward (19-Inch Rack with a 17.75-Inch Opening or a 23- or 24-Inch Rack)

What to Do after Installing the Router HardwareAfter you have installed the router, make all necessary LAN and WAN connections, connect the power cable to the rear panel of the router and the power source, and then power it ON. (If the router does not power ON, proceed to the "Troubleshooting the Router" appendix in the Cisco 2600 Series Hardware Installation Guide included in your router package.) For information on making LAN and WAN connections, refer to the hardware guides included in your router package. For initial software configuration information, refer to the Software Configuration Guide included in your router package. Note The Cisco IOS command reference publications provide additional software configuration information. Cisco IOS command reference publications are available on the Documentation CD-ROM that came with your router or you can order printed copies. For ordering information, see the "Documentation CD-ROM" section. Cisco Connection OnlineCisco Connection Online (CCO) is Cisco Systems' primary, real-time support channel.
