Introduction
This document provides an overview of the WIC-1DSU-T1 and WIC-1DSU-T1-V2 interface cards and provides a sample configuration to use these interface cards on Cisco 1600, 1700, 2600,3600 and 3700 router platforms. The WIC-1DSU-T1-V2 is an updated version of the WIC-1DSU-T1 interface card (which has reached End-of-Life [EoL]/End-of-Sale [EoS]), that offers additional supported features with the same performance.

Features
The T1 Data Service Unit/Channel Service Unit (CSU/DSU) WAN interface card provides full or fractional T1 service. The T1 CSU/DSU WIC does not provide channelized T1 or ISDN PRI. Refer to the Product data sheet for more information. Facilities Data Link (FDL) is off by default, and you must configure FDL to either American National Standards Institute (ANSI) or AT&T 54016, but not both at the same time.
The Cisco T1 DSU/CSU -V2 WIC is supported on the Cisco 1700 Series, 2600XM Series, 3631, and 3700 Series routers, and Cisco ICS 7750 software.
-
T1 or fractional T1 network interface
-
Wet T1 support (not available on WIC-1DSU-T1)
-
N x 64 kbps or N x 56 kbps nonchannelized data rates (N = 1 to 24)
-
Standards-based, including ANSI T1.403 and AT&T Publication 62411
-
Full management features:
-
Configuration—Capability for remote configuration using Telnet from the Cisco IOS command line interface (CLI).
-
Monitoring—Router and DSU/CSU are manageable as a single Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) entity. Extensive DSU/CSU statistics are provided by the Cisco IOS CLI.
-
Troubleshooting—Extensive loopbacks (including manual button for network line loopback), bit error rate tester (BERT) test patterns, alarm counters, and performance reports, all of which are accessible from Cisco IOS CLI. LEDs for carrier detect, loopback, and alarm functions.

Note: Cisco 1600 and 1600R routers are no longer sold by Cisco Systems.
Sample Configuration
Here is a sample configuration for a WIC-1DSU-T1 interface card. There are no controller or controller-related commands, such as channel-group, to configure. With this WIC card, service-module commands are used. The syntax with regard to the framing, line-code, and so on remains the same. In this scenario a full T1 card with 24 timeslots is used.
