Cisco Systems® announces the availability of the CiscoWorks VPN/Security Management Solution (VMS) 2.3. An integral part of the SAFE Blueprint from Cisco®, CiscoWorks VMS combines Web-based tools for configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting:
• VPNs
• Firewalls
• Network intrusion prevention systems (IPSs)
• Host-based intrusion prevention systems (IPSs)
• Router-based IPSs
CiscoWorks VMS addresses the needs of both small- and large-scale VPN and security deployments by protecting productivity gains and reducing operating costs for organizations. Features are listed in Table 1.

Monitoring for performance
Provides functions for improved monitoring and troubleshooting of the performance of services that contribute to enterprise network security
Operational management
Provides the operational management for the network, allowing network managers to quickly build a complete network inventory and monitor and report on hardware, software, configuration, and inventory changes
New Features
The management functions for firewalls, network IPSs, Cisco Security Agents, VPNs, security monitoring, and performance monitoring have all been updated with new features and usability improvements such as streamlined installation. Furthermore, management support for router-based IPS signatures has been added to further extend security to the network infrastructure.
The product requires Cisco Software Application Support (SAS) service or the Cisco Software Application Support plus Upgrades (SASU) service.

Availability
CiscoWorks VPN/Security Management Solution 2.3 and associated minor release update kits will start shipping on January 14, 2005. Customers can purchase these new products through their regular sales channels beginning December 22, 2004.
