Cisco® Security Agent security software provides threat protection for server and desktop computing systems, also known as endpoints. Cisco Security Agent goes beyond conventional endpoint security solutions by identifying and preventing malicious behavior before it can occur, thereby removing potential known and unknown security risks that threaten enterprise networks and applications. Cisco Security Agent mitigates new and evolving threats without requiring reconfigurations or updates on endpoints, providing robust protection with reduced operational costs. Cisco Security Agent Version 5.1 provides ease-of-use enhancements to the Cisco Management Center for Cisco Security Agents, simplifying and enhancing operations.
Table 1 lists features of Cisco Security Agent Version 5.1.
Table 1. Cisco Security Agent Version 5.1 Features
Feature
Description
Management Center for Cisco Security Agents; standalone version
The Management Center for Cisco Security Agents is now available as a standalone management application. It does not require the CiscoWorks VPN/Security Management Solution (VMS) to operate.
Management Center for Cisco Security Agents; enhancements
Improvements to the Management Center for Cisco Security Agents provide a more efficient installation process. The overall time to install the management application has been shortened for a simplified initial installation.
NEW FEATURES
New features of Cisco Security Agent Version 5.1 include:
• New platform support for the Management Center for Cisco Security Agents, for Microsoft Windows 2003 Server (Standard, Enterprise, Web, or Small Business Editions).
• Elimination of the installation of CiscoWorks Common Services Software Version 2.2 as a requirement to run the Management Center for Cisco Security Agents.
UPGRADE PATHS
There are no functional differences between the features of Cisco Security Agent Versions 5.0 and 5.1. Cisco Security Agent Version 5.1 is available for new customers only since the difference between the releases is a shorter installation process for the management center. Existing customers will already have a management center installed and operational. Existing Cisco Security Agent customers are recommended to continue to run Cisco Security Agent Version 5.0. There is no upgrade for existing customers to Version 5.1. The next release, Cisco Security Agent Version 5.2, will provide new features and an upgrade for both Cisco Security Agent Version 5.0 and 5.1 customers.
AVAILABILITY
Cisco Security Agent 5.1 will be available on April 28, 2006.
