Cisco 2900 Series Integrated Services Routers

Cisco Integrated Services Router Application Experience Series

Cisco is proud to announce the addition of the Cisco® Integrated Services Router Application Experience (ISR-AX) Series. Cisco ISR-AX Routers directly integrate Cisco Wide Area Application Services (WAAS), Cisco Application Visibility and Control (AVC), Security, and Data licenses into a platform that is simple to order, configure, and deploy for secure, optimized cloud connectivity and branch-office routing. By providing a system that is simple to order and deploy, the Cisco ISR-AX adds to the rich breadth of services available on the ISRs. Similar to the other routers in the ISR portfolio, the ISR-AX Routers consist of three product families: the Cisco 3900-AX, 2900-AX, and 1900-AX Series Routers. From the Cisco 1921-AX through the Cisco 3945E-AX, the portfolio provides increasing performance and module slot density, and each router comes equipped and ready to deploy. All platforms include all required Application Experience (AX) licenses including: IP Base, Data, Security, WAAS-Express, and Application Visibility and Control, with the Cisco 3900-AX also including a Right-to-Use (RTU) license for 2500 WAAS or Virtual WAAS (vWAAS) connections and a RTU license for 1300 WAAS or vWAAS connections for the Cisco 2911-AX Series platforms and later. In addition, you can configure each platform for additional features, modules, interfaces, and equipment (for example, Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express [Unified CME]) to match the needs of diverse branch offices running varying degrees of rich services.

Notes:
1) TCP connection requirements vary by application; some applications consume multiple TCP connection resources for WAAS optimization.
2) Target WAN bandwidth is not limited in software or by any other system limit, but is rather provided as guidance for deployment sizing purposes.
3) Cisco 1921 routers have fixed non-expandable memory. DRE is disabled on these platforms.
4) Typical WAN interfaces for maximum benefit with Cisco WAAS Express include T1/E1, 3G, and multi-T1, and smaller interfaces such as 256 or 384 Kbps interfaces.
5) 2.5GB DRAM required for WAAS-Express on Cisco 1941/2901/2911/2921/2951-AX and 3900-AX series routers. 2.5GB DRAM included by default for Cisco 1941-AX and 2901-AX.

You can also purchase AX licenses and add them to any appropriately equipped Cisco 1921, 1941, 2900, or 3900 Router by purchasing the AX license as a separate line item. Table 2 gives the product IDs for ordering AX spares.

Virtual WAAS on the Cisco UCS E-Series Module

The Cisco Unified Computing System (Cisco UCS®) E-Series Module is optional when ordering the Cisco 2911-AX, 2921-AX, 2951-AX, and 3900-AX Series Routers. The Cisco UCS E-Series Module can be configured to have vWAAS preloaded on it to help provide a quick and easy installation; for ordering the Cisco UCS E-Series, the appropriate VMware ESXi v5 and vSphere licenses are also required. Table 3 lists part numbers for vWAAS preloaded on the Cisco UCS E-Series.
