EOS/EOL Cisco FS 5500 and FS 5700 Integrated Network Attached Storage Devices [Cisco FS 5500 Series Integrated NAS]

Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of life dates for the Cisco FS 5500 and FS 5700 Integrated Network Attached Storage (NAS) Devices. The last day to order the affected product is May 15, 2006. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until October 29, 2011. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.

The Cisco FS 5500 Series Integrated NAS and Cisco FS 5700 Series Integrated NAS are OEM versions of the EMC NS500 Series Integrated NAS and EMC NS700 Series Integrated NAS. Cisco is discontinuing the resale of these products with this notice. Customers can continue to purchase the EMC NS500 and EMC NS700 directly from EMC.

End of New Service Attachment Date	For equipment and software that is not covered by a service-and-support contract, this is the last date to order a new service-and-support contract or add the equipment and/or software to an existing service-and-support contract.	October 30, 2007
End of Service Contract Renewal Date	The last date to extend or renew a service contract for the product.	January 25, 2011
Last Date of Support	The last date to receive service and support for the product. After this date, all support services for the product are unavailable, and the product becomes obsolete.	October 29, 2011

Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices when used in conjunction with Cisco Wide Area Application Services products such as Cisco Wide Area File Services (WAFS) help customers consolidate not only data center and campus file storage resources, but also remote office and branch office file storage infrastructure. Hence customers are encouraged to continue to purchase NAS devices including the EMC NS500 and EMC NS700 from vendors like EMC as required by their solution architectures. The recommended replacement for the Cisco FS 5500 and FS 5700 Integrated Network Attached Storage (NAS) Devices is the EMC NS500 and EMC NS700.

Cisco is only discontinuing its resale of the EMC NS500 and EMC NS700 NAS devices. There is currently no need for customers to plan migrations related to this notice.
