A. CiscoWorks CiscoView is a Web-based graphical device-management application that provides monitoring and configuration features for most Cisco® networking devices. CiscoWorks CiscoView aides network management by displaying a physical view of a Cisco device, allowing users to easily interact with device components to change configuration parameters or monitor statistics. Features include:

• An entirely browser-based interface. Users can fully access CiscoWorks CiscoView from any of the specified Internet Explorer, Mozilla, or Netscape browsers without the need for additional software or plug-ins.

• Continually updated physical view of routers, hubs, switches, or access servers in a network regardless of physical location.

• Color-coding of device ports for at-a-glance port status, allowing users to quickly grasp essential information.

• Graphical, real-time monitoring of critical information and data relating to device performance, traffic, and environmental usage with metrics such as utilization percentage, frames transmitted and received, errors, and a variety of other device-specific indicators.

• Configuration of device parameters modified through dialog boxes opened by visually selecting the port, line card, or chassis graphical image.

• Scheduled or on-demand device support through the Web-based Package Support Updater (PSU) feature without having to purchase and install new versions of CiscoWorks CiscoView.

Q. What is new in CiscoView 6.1?
A. CiscoView 6.1 has several new features including:

• A pure HTML client, alleviating the need for additional client software or plug-ins

• IPv6 support

• Mini-Remote Monitoring (RMON) support that helps users to gather and use vital device data collected by mini-RMON groups

• Simple Network Management Protocol Version 3 (SNMPv3) (Authorization, No Privacy) support

• More granular user-access rules through Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS) integration

• Intuitive new user interface

• Common device selector that allows users to access a common device list entered through the device credentials repository (DCR)

Q. What products will use CiscoWorks CiscoView 6.1?
A. CiscoWorks CiscoView 6.1 will be sold as an integral part of the appropriate CiscoWorks solution and will not be sold as an individual product.
Q. What are the advantages of the browser interface to CiscoWorks CiscoView?
A. No matter where you choose to install the CiscoWorks CiscoView server application, multiple users can simultaneously access CiscoView from almost anywhere on the network-using just a browser.
Q. What monitoring and configuration tasks can CiscoWorks CiscoView accomplish?
A. CiscoWorks CiscoView will give you information about your device using SNMP. You can configure any supported SNMP MIB variable. CiscoWorks CiscoView also monitors important statistics about your device, such as backplane usage and errors. Alternatively, you can Telnet to a managed chassis.

A. Yes. CiscoWorks CiscoView 6.1 is compatible with CiscoView 5.x.
CiscoWorks CiscoView 6.1 packages can work with CiscoView 5.x engines. Please note that CiscoWorks CiscoView 5.x packages will not work with the CiscoView 6.1 engine.

A. Approximately 10, depending on the server size and polling load.
