Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco® Universal Gateway Manager (UGM) 2.1, the Cisco Element Management Framework-based element management system for the Cisco AS5350, AS5400, AS5400HPX and AS5850 series universal gateways. The last day to order the Cisco UGM 2.1 is August 1, 2005. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until August 1, 2008.
Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco UGM 2.1. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the latest version of CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution (LMS), which supports most of the Cisco UGM feature set. CiscoWorks Voice Manager and Cisco Universal Gateway Call Analyzer deliver additional management features that may be applied to specific Cisco AS5000 network applications. Application information for these options is included later in this announcement.
Table 3 provides relevant information for migrating from the Cisco Universal Gateway Manager to the CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution with CiscoWorks Voice Manager and Cisco Universal Gateway Call Analyzer options as required.

The recommended replacement for the Cisco Universal Gateway Manager 2.1 is the CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution (LMS). CiscoWorks LMS provides a solid foundation of basic and advanced device-management applications that help network operators more efficiently manage their networks. CiscoWorks Voice Manager and Cisco Universal Gateway Call Analyzer deliver additional management features that may be applied to specific Cisco AS5000 network applications. Existing Cisco UGM customers may upgrade to CiscoWorks LMS using the upgrade part number CWLMS-2.2-UP-K9 Existing Cisco UGM customers that have Cisco IOS® Software-based H.323 voice applications may upgrade to CiscoWorks Voice Manager using the upgrade part number CWVM-2.2-UP-K9.
