Product Overview

CiscoWorks WLSE is a centralized network management solution for managing the Cisco® Aironet® WLAN infrastructure. As the management component of the Cisco Systems® Distributed WLAN Solution, CiscoWorks WLSE provides comprehensive air/radio frequency (RF) and device-management capabilities in ways that simplify deployment, reduce operational complexity, and provide administrators with visibility into the WLAN. By automating several RF and device-management tasks, CiscoWorks WLSE reduces the costs and time needed for WLAN deployment, management, and security.

Table 1 describes the new features in CiscoWorks WLSE Software 2.12.

Feature	Description
Zero-touch deployment	Device (access point/bridge)-specific settings such as host name, radio power, and channel can be imported into CiscoWorks WLSE via a comma-separated value (CSV) file, with unique Ethernet MAC address mapping. This allows CiscoWorks WLSE to automatically apply device-specific settings without touching each access point.
Enhancements to the Site Survey Wizard	Specific RF settings such as channel and power, as recommended by the CiscoWorks WLSE Site Survey Wizard, can be applied to devices based on a schedule.
Friendly to rogue reclassification	CiscoWorks WLSE will periodically monitor for changes in the status of rogue access points that are marked "friendly" to alert the administrator in case location or received signal strength indicator (RSSI) values change.

Upgrade Paths

Customers currently using the CiscoWorks 1130-19 for WLSE are encouraged to update their software to CiscoWorks WLSE Software 2.12. Customers using the CiscoWorks 1105 for WLSE will not be able to run version 2.12 and are encouraged to upgrade to the CiscoWorks 1130-19 for WLSE.

Availability

Customers interested in purchasing CiscoWorks WLSE Software 2.12 may place orders beginning October 22, 2005 through normal sales channels. A CiscoWorks WLSE Software 2.12 upgrade is available for download or through the Product Upgrade Tool at http://www.cisco.com/upgrade for customers with an earlier version of CiscoWorks WLSE Software. CiscoWorks WLSE contains encryption technologies controlled by the U.S. government; users who want to download software will be prompted to apply for permission to access the encrypted files.

Ordering Information

Table 2 lists ordering information for CiscoWorks WLSE Software 2.12. Important: CiscoWorks WLSE includes strong encryption technology that is restricted for some types of U.S. exports.
