Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of life dates for the Cisco IOS software Release 12.0. The last day to order the affected product is August 13, 2001. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table 1 in EoL product bulletin. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco IOS software Release 12.0.

The date the document that announces the end of sale and end of life of a product is distributed to the general public.

The last date that Cisco Engineering may release any final software maintenance releases or bug fixes. After this date, Cisco Engineering will no longer develop, repair, maintain, or test the product software.

Customers currently on Cisco IOS software Release 12.0 are recommended to upgrade to the latest version of Cisco IOS software Release 12.1 or 12.1T. Release 12.1 provides the same functionality as Release 12.0T, but with a higher level of end-to-end testing within various network environments. Cisco IOS software Release 12.1T is an Early Deployment Release and provides the same functionality as Release 12.1, plus new features and enhancements in all areas of Cisco IOS software: IP routing and services, Security, Connectivity & Scalability, Voice, and Management.
