Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of life dates for the Cisco IOS software Release 12.0. The last day to order the affected product is August 13, 2001. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table 1 in EoL product bulletin. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco IOS software Release 12.0.

PRODUCT MIGRATION OPTIONS
Customers currently on Cisco IOS software Release 12.0 are recommended to upgrade to the latest version of Cisco IOS software Release 12.1 or 12.1T. Release 12.1 provides the same functionality as Release 12.0T, but with a higher level of end-to-end testing within various network environments. Cisco IOS software Release 12.1T is an Early Deployment Release and provides the same functionality as Release 12.1, plus new features and enhancements in all areas of Cisco IOS software: IP routing and services, Security, Connectivity & Scalability, Voice, and Management. When upgrading to a more recent release, certain software images may no longer be available, hardware platforms may no longer be supported, or there may be may be changes to memory requirements. For further information, please refer to the Cisco Download Software Area at
Cisco customers with current SMARTnet Onsite or SMARTnet contracts can upgrade to Cisco IOS software Release 12.1 as part of their service contracts. For further information on upgrade service or SMARTnet, please consult your Cisco sales representative.
