Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of life dates for the Cisco CSS 11800 Series Content Services Switch. The last day to order the Cisco CSS 11800 Series Content Services Switch is November 1, 2002. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table 1 of the EoL bulletin. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco CSS 11800 Series Content Services Switch. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.
The Cisco CSS 11800 is a high-performance, chassis-based switching solution for large, high-traffic Web sites and Web-hosting infrastructures. Featuring Cisco Web Network Services (WebNS) software, the Cisco CSS 11800 ensures the availability of Web sites, secures site resources, and uses servers, caches, and firewalls efficiently.

Product Migration Options
Customers are encouraged to migrate from the Cisco CSS 11800 to either the Cisco CSS 11500 or the CSM. The CSM offers high performance and transport and application (Layer 4-7) features as rich as those in WebNS. It is fully integrated with the Cisco IOS Software, the Cisco Catalyst. 6500 Series, and the Cisco 7600 Internet Router, the CSM also supports high port densities and rich internetworking features. The Cisco CSS 11500 is a standalone, compact modular platform, delivering rich transport and application (Layer 4-7) services for Internet and intranet data centers.
The Cisco CSS 11150 and 11050 switches will continue to be sold and supported for customers who have standardized on these platforms for ongoing deployments.
