The Cisco® ACE XML Gateway is a key component of the Cisco Application Control Engine (ACE) family of products. It brings application intelligence to the network and enables efficient deployment of secure, reliable, and accelerated Extensible Markup Language (XML) applications. These state-of-the-art functions enable the intelligent network to now support Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and to accelerate, secure, and scale XML applications.
The Cisco ACE XML Gateway enables the following:
• Improves XML application and data center security by preventing XML-based threats and providing XML message security
• Reduces costs of application server infrastructure by offloading computationally intensive XML processing operations
• Maximizes XML application and Web services scalability by improving concurrency and reducing end-to-end latency
• Improves IT staff productivity by reducing the amount of time needed to provision, maintain, and secure XML applications
New Features
Cisco ACE XML Gateway Software Version 5.2 offers the following new capabilities:
Provides the capability to reconfigure server farms in Cisco ACE application switches if the configured servers are also being provisioned for Web service interfaces by Cisco ACE XML Gateway
Facilitates ease of use, higher user productivity, and reduced errors when configuring a Cisco ACE XML Gateway in a Cisco ACE application switch network infrastructure
Client-side HTTP compression
Allows reduction in network latency and network bandwidth requirements between HTTP clients and Cisco ACE XML Gateway
Reduces latency of client requests and network bandwidth requirements
Outbound HTTP proxy
Enables Cisco ACE XML Gateway to route all HTTP/S requests using a user-configured proxy
Allows Cisco ACE XML Gateway to adhere to an organization's security policy for outbound requests
MTOM with security
Enables organizations to secure MTOM attachments
Enables Cisco ACE XML Gateway to be a secure proxy between Microsoft clients and servers and supports the MTOM standard
WSS username token decryption and pass-through
Allows organizations to secure older applications that cannot process encrypted "WS-UsernameTokens"
Allows mainframe and older environments to coexist in the new Web services and WSS standards-based environment
Updated product extensibility framework
Enhances the product extensibility support mechanism to enable extension of the product for off-release-cycle updates
