The WLSE allows you to view, copy, delete, and export Wizard configuration templates.

Note You cannot create a Wizard template using this option; you must use the Deployment Wizard (see Using the Deployment Wizard). However, you can copy an existing Wizard template, then edit it. When you copy a Wizard template, it is saved under its new name as an IOS type template, not a Wizard template.

What is a Configuration Template?

You can think of a configuration template as a configuration update file that you can apply to large numbers of devices at a time. This file might contain the update for only one parameter or a complete access point configuration.

You can use the Configure > Templates option to:

•View existing templates—SeeViewing the Existing Templates.

•Copy an existing template—See Copying a Template.

•Delete a template—See Deleting a Template.

•Export a template—Exporting a Template.

Viewing the Existing Templates

Use this option to view a configuration template.

Note Your login determines whether you can use this option.

Procedure

Step 1 Select Configure > Templates. The Templates dialog box appears.

Step 2 From the list, select the type of templates you want to display, then click Filter

Step 3 The selected template types are displayed in the Existing Templates table.

Copying a Template

Use this option to copy a configuration template that you can use as a base for another template.

When you copy a Wizard template, the new template appears as an IOS template in the Type column of the Existing Templates table.

Note Your login determines whether you can use this option.

Procedure

Step 1 Select Configure > Templates. The Templates dialog box appears.

Step 2 Select the template you want to copy from the Existing Templates table, then click Copy. A dialog box appears asking you to enter a name for the copy.

Step 3 Enter a unique name. See Naming Guidelines for details.

Step 4 Click OK. The Templates window refreshes and the new name appears in the Existing Templates table.

Step 5 Select the template, then click Edit. See Editing a Template.

Editing a Template

Use this option to edit a copied Wizard configuration template. You cannot edit a Wizard template; you can only edit a copy of one.

Note Your login determines whether you can use this option.

Procedure

Step 1 Select Configure > Templates. The Templates dialog box appears.

Step 2 Select the template you want to edit from the Existing Templates table, then click Edit. The window refreshes with Template Creation menu in the left pane and the Template Name dialog box in the right pane.

Step 3 Select the choices in the Template Menu to create a configuration template. For a description, see Template Choices.

Deleting a Template

Use this option to delete a configuration template.

Note Your login determines whether you can use this option.

Procedure

Step 1 Select Configure > Templates. The Templates dialog box appears.

Step 2 Select the template you want to delete from the Existing Templates table, then click Delete. A window appears asking if you want to delete the template.

Note You cannot delete a template if it used in a scheduled job.

Step 3 Click OK to delete it.

Step 4 To import another template, click Back and go to Step 2.

Step 5 When you are finished, click Done.

Step 6 View the template you imported by selecting Configure > Templates and selecting it in the Existing Templates table.

Exporting a Template

Use this option to export a configuration template to your local drive.

Note Your login determines whether you can use this option.

Procedure

Step 1 Select Configure > Templates. The Templates dialog box appears.

Step 2 Select a template name from Existing Templates, then click Export. The Export Template window appears.

Step 3 From the list, select the template you want to export, then click Export. The Export Template to Desktop window appears with the name of the template.

Step 4 Right-click on the template name, select Save As, and enter the location to save the template.

Step 5 Click Done.

Template Choices

The template choices for a Wizard template are the same as for an IOS template. See Template Choices.
