Installation Guidelines
Because access points and bridges are radio devices, they are susceptible to RF obstructions and common sources of interference that can reduce throughput and range. Follow these guidelines to ensure the best possible performance:
•
Install bridges and their antennas in areas where trees, buildings, and other large structures will not obstruct radio signals being transmitted or received. Install access points in areas where steel filing cabinets, bookcases, and building materials will not obstruct radio signals.
•
Install bridges and access points away from microwave ovens and 2-GHz cordless phones. These products can cause signal interference because they operate in the same frequency range as access points and bridges.
Special Considerations
The 350 Series metal case access point and bridge provide adequate fire resistance and low smoke-producing characteristics suitable for operation in a building's environmental air space, such as above suspended ceilings. These products are intended for indoor use and can be used in environments where the temperature ranges from -4 to 131oF (-20 to 55oC).
Installation Notes
Mount the bridge or access point to a wall using the mounting kit and the mounting template on page 3. The kit contains the following parts:
•
Four #6 - #10 plastic wall anchors
•
Four #8 x 0.88" sheet-metal screws
Installation Instructions
Step 1
Use the mounting template to drill four holes in the wall. The holes should be 3/16 in. (0.48 cm) in diameter and 1 in. (2.54 cm) deep.
Note
Since the mounting template is a photocopy, make sure that the distances between the holes are the same as the dimensions indicated in the mounting template before you drill the holes. Some photocopy machines do not make exact duplicates of the original. If the photocopy dimensions are not correct, use the dimensions from the mounting template to locate the holes.
Step 2
Tap the wall anchors into the holes.
Step 3
Drive three screws into the wall anchors corresponding to the key-holes in the mounting template, leaving a small gap between the screw head and the anchor.
Step 4
Position the key-holes of the case over the screws and pull down to lock it in place.
Step 5
Drive the remaining screw into the fourth wall anchor and tighten all mounting screws.
Step 6
Connect the Ethernet cable to the access point or bridge.
Step 7
If your access point or bridge has removable antennas, connect the antennas or antenna cables to the access point or bridge.
