Contents
Introduction
Cisco Mobile for BlackBerry client software works in conjunction with Cisco Unified Mobility Advantage server software to extend Cisco enterprise communications applications and services to BlackBerry devices. Cisco Mobile for BlackBerry is a Cisco Unified Mobile Communicator application.
System Requirements
For system requirements for client, server, and related enterprise servers, see the Compatibility Matrix at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps7270/products_device_support_tables_list.html.
New and Changed Information
•
A Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance is not required for this deployment. Instead, Cisco Mobile for BlackBerry clients connect through a BlackBerry Enterprise Server with MDS. For additional deployment instructions, see the BlackBerry chapter of the Enabling Support for Clients documentation module at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps7270/products_installation_and_configuration_guides_list.html.
•
For information about new features in Release 7.1.x, see the data sheet at http://cisco.com/en/US/products/ps7271/products_data_sheets_list.html.
•
Release 7.1.028 provides support for French, German, Spanish, and Italian, as well as English.
Important Notes
•
If you have Cisco Unified Mobile Communicator for BlackBerry users of languages other than English, deploy Release 7.1.028 or later, not the original release 7.1. Follow the upgrade instructions in the User documentation for this product as described in Installation Notes.
•
A BlackBerry Enterprise Server must be deployed with MDS. See the documentation from RIM (Research In Motion) for information.
•
If you deploy a Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance to support devices other than BlackBerry, the automatically-sent provisioning email that Cisco Mobile for BlackBerry users receive will not contain the correct information, and the client will not be able to connect to the server.
For more information and a list of options for resolving or working around this issue, look in the Bug Toolkit (instructions below) for bug CSCtd01995.
•
You may want to periodically check for updates to client and server software.
