What's New

This release of Cisco CallManager includes the following new features for Cisco IP Phone models 7902G/7905G/7912G:

Using the Gratuitous ARP Feature

Finding Documentation On Line

Using the Gratuitous ARP Feature

Cisco IP Phone models 7902G/7905G/7912G update an Ethernet-to-IP address mapping when they accept an ARP response. By default, each of these phones uses the Gratuitous ARP feature, which means that the phone accepts an ARP response only after the phone sends an ARP request. The phone ignores ARP responses that are not the result of prior requests.

However, you can disable the Gratuitous ARP feature, which would allow Cisco IP Phone models 7902G/7905G/7912G to accept all ARP responses.

The Gratuitous ARP field is located on the Cisco IP Phone 7902G/7905G/7912G configuration page under Product Specific Configuration.
