How to Configure Cisco TCS and MXE 3500 for Automated Transcoding and Forwarding to Cisco Show and Share

This process workflow describes how to integrate Cisco MXE 3500 with Cisco TelePresence Content Server (TCS) and Cisco Show and Share to automate the transforming and sharing of recorded content. When you complete this process workflow, Cisco TCS files are automatically submitted to Cisco MXE 3500 for transcoding/transforming and then forwarded to Show and Share for editing and publishing (Figure 1).

Prerequisites
Before you begin, review these system requirements:
•Administrative login credentials on all devices.
•Cisco MXE 3500 running Release 3.3. You must complete MXE 3500 basic set up and configuration before performing the procedures in this document. More information is available on Cisco.com:

Process Workflow Overview
Perform these procedures in the order shown to configure automated transcoding and forwarding:
1. Review the Guidelines and Limitations
2. Configure the Cisco MXE 3500
When you complete the Capture Transform Share workflow:
•Cisco TCS will automatically
–Upload a Cisco TelePresence recording to the Cisco MXE 3500 FTP server specified in the Media server configuration.
–Submit a job to the Cisco MXE 3500 using the configured job profile. The metadata is also submitted to Cisco MXE 3500.
•Cisco MXE 3500 will process the job and forward the transcoded/transformed video to Show and Share.
•Cisco Show and Share will automatically publish the file or save the file as a draft (depending on the selected configuration).
Guidelines and Limitations
Before you begin, review these guidelines and limitations:
•The Cisco MXE 3500 preprocessor profile must have auto aspect ratio and percentage-based watermarks enabled.
•The Cisco MXE 3500 API authentication is enabled by default. You must disable API basic authentication in Cisco MXE 3500 to integrate with Show and Share. In this case, API basic authentication in Cisco MXE 3500 is also disabled for Cisco TCS.
•Show and Share displays superuser as the author when:
–recording alias is a system alias
–recording alias is an LDAP group alias
–recording alias is a local user account
•For the recording owner to display as the author on Show and Share, LDAP must be enabled on Cisco TCS and Show and Share and be linked to the same LDAP server.
•Recording owners that are added to Cisco TCS from the TCS Groups and Users page, and who are not users on Show and Share display as author not available. Recordings published by an invalid author are accessible only by the superuser.
•In a clustered deployment, perform all configuration steps on the Resource Manager (RM) appliance.
•You should confirm that Cisco Show and Share Workers for the Host is Enabled on the Cisco MXE 3500. By default, all Show and Share workers are permitted. To confirm your system settings, go to the Host Administration page. Choose a Host. Choose sns Worker and click Permit. Click Apply Configuration.
Configure the Cisco MXE 3500
Perform these tasks:
1. Create Cisco TCS Integration and tcsftp
2. Create the Preprocessor Profile
3. Create the Delivery Profile
Create Cisco TCS Integration and tcsftp
The Cisco TCS integration allows communication between the Cisco MXE 3500 and Cisco TCS. Follow these steps:
Step 1 Start an SSH session. To access the Cisco MXE 3500, enter mxe_IP_address, where mxe_IP_address is the MXE hostname or IP address.
Step 2 Log in as admin. The configuration menu appears.
Step 3 Choose Configure Cisco TCS Integration, and click OK.

Step 4 In the Configure Cisco TCS Integration screen, choose Enable Cisco TCS Integration.

Step 5 Enter a password for tcsftp in the Password field.
Step 6 Reenter the password in the Verify Password field and click OK.
Create the Preprocessor Profile
The Preprocessor Profile specifies the video transcoding properties. Follow these steps:
Step 1 From the Cisco MXE 3500 web UI Toolbox, expand Profile Management, and click Open Profile.
Step 2 From the Profile Class drop-down, select Preprocessor.
Step 3 From the list, highlight a default Preprocessor Profile, and click Open Profile.
Step 4 Click Save As to rename and save the default Preprocessor Profile with a unique name such as CXS_modified_default.
Create the Delivery Profile
The Delivery Profile defines how the Cisco MXE 3500 forwards the transcoded videos to Show and Share. Follow these steps:
Step 1 From the Cisco MXE 3500 web UI Toolbox, expand Profile Management, and click New Profile. The New Profile pop-up appears.
Step 2 From the Profile Class drop-down, choose Distribution. Choose Delivery and click the New Profile button (Figure 4). The New Delivery Profile page appears.

Step 3 Expand Delivery Formats and choose the H.264 delivery format.

Step 4 Expand Show and Share Delivery (Figure 5).
a. Choose Enabled.
b. Click the Load Categories button and choose a category from the list. The default is None.
Note When you click the Load Categories button, the configured Show and Share categories appear. This confirms that the system settings are correct and that the Cisco MXE 3500 is communicating with Show and Share.
c. In the API URL and Upload URL input boxes, replace [HOST] with the IP address or hostname of the Show and Share server.
d. The username is superuser. Enter a Password.
e. Click the Auto Approve/Publish check box if you want the transcoded video to automatically publish on Show and Share. Leave the box unchecked if you want the transcoded video forwarded to Show and Share where it will remain in draft state for editing before publishing.
Note Auto Approve/Publish automatically publishes the recording to Show and Share. Do not select if you want to review and edit the recording in Show and Share before publishing for viewers to see.
f. (Optional) Enter Retry Attempts and Retry Frequency parameters. We recommend not changing the default settings.
Step 5 Click Save As and enter a unique name such as CXS_delivery_profile.
Create the Output Profile
An Output Profile enables the profile and can prevent the Cisco MXE 3500 from storing transcoded files locally in an output folder. Follow these steps:
Step 1 From the Cisco MXE 3500 web UI Toolbox, expand Profile Management and click New Profile. The New Profile pop-up appears.
Step 2 From the Profile Class drop-down, choose Distribution. Choose Output and click the New Profile button (Figure 6). The New Output Profile page appears (Figure 7).

Step 3 In the Common area, check the Profile Enabled check box.
Step 4 In the Save Local Output File area, uncheck all check boxes. This deletes the output after the transcoded video is successfully published to Show and Share.
Step 5 (Optional) In the Output area, click the Output Name Enabled check box to allow output files to be renamed according to the Output Filename box. If unchecked, the files are named according to the default format.
Step 6 (Optional) In the Output Filename field, enter the new name for encoded output files.
Step 7 Click Save As and enter a unique name such as CXS_output_profile.
Create the Job Profile
The Job Profile template defines how jobs should be processed. It contains the input and output format settings that are required to process jobs from beginning to final distribution to Show and Share. Follow these steps:
Step 1 From the Cisco MXE 3500 web UI Toolbox, expand Profile Management and click New Profile. The New Profile window appears.
Step 2 From the Profile Class drop-down menu, choose Job. Click the New Profile button. The New Job Profile window appears.
Step 3 Expand the Preprocessing pane and choose the preprocessor profile that you created for Cisco TCS in the "Create the Preprocessor Profile" task.
Step 4 Expand the Encoding pane and choose one or more of the following default Show and Share encoders.

Step 5 Expand the Distribution pane. From the Output menu, select the output profile that you created in the "Create the Output Profile" task.
Step 6 From the Delivery list, choose the delivery profile that you created in the "Create the Delivery Profile" task.
Step 7 Click Save As and enter a unique Job Profile name such as CXS_job_profile. You will reference this profile in the Cisco TCS Media server configuration.
Configure Cisco TCS
Perform these tasks:
Create the Media Server
You need to create the Media server configuration in the Cisco TCS. Follow these steps:
Step 1 Log in to Cisco TCS, and click on the Management tab.
Step 2 Navigate to Recording setup > Media server configurations.
Step 3 Click on Add Media Experience Engine 3500 Server Configuration.
Step 4 In the Server settings, enter these parameters:
•A unique name for the Cisco MXE 3500 Media server configuration such as CXS_mxe_mediaserver_name.
•The Cisco MXE 3500 IP address or hostname.
Step 5 In the FTP settings, enter these parameters:
•For username, enter tcsftp
•For password, enter the password that you configured in the "Create Cisco TCS Integration and tcsftp" task.
–Click the Test FTP button to test the FTP connection.
Step 6 In the API Settings, enter these parameters:
•The MXEAPI Username and Password fields are not used and should be left blank.
•For Profile Space, choose System from the drop-down menu.
•For Profile, choose the job profile that you created in the "Create the Job Profile" task.
Step 7 Click Save.
Create the Template
You need to associate the template to the recording alias to automate the delivery of the transformed recording to Show and Share. Follow these steps:
Step 1 Log in to Cisco TCS, and click on the Management tab.
Step 2 Navigate to Recording setup > Templates.
Step 3 Click Add template. The Add template window appears.
Step 4 In the Template menu, choose the Distributed to Media Experience Engine 3500, Show and Share, Podcast Producer, or iTunes U check box.
Step 5 In the Outputs for Distributed to Media Experience Engine 3500, Show and Share, Podcast Producer, or iTunes U section, choose the following:
a. (Optional) A presentation option if recording has dual video. The default is Switching.
b. Select the Media Experience Engine 3500 check box.
c. In the drop-down menu, select the Media server that you created in the "Create the Media Server" task.
Step 6 Click Save As and enter a unique name such as CXS_mxe_template.
Create the Recording Alias
You need to create a recording alias to test the Capture Transform Share workflow. Follow these steps:
Step 1 Log in to Cisco TCS, and click on the Management tab.
Step 2 Navigate to Recording Setup > Recording Aliases.
Step 3 At the bottom of the page, click + Add Recording Alias.
Step 4 On the Add recording alias page, enter the following information:
a. In the Recording alias section, enter a Name for the recording alias, such as CXS_recording_alias, and choose System for the Recording alias type.
b. In the Dialing properties section, enter the H323ID alias or SIP URI.
c. In the Recordings settings section, select the template that you created in the "Create the Template" task from the drop-down list.
d. You can use the default settings for the remaining fields. (For more information about configuring a recording alias, see the "Related Documentation" section.)
Step 5 Click Save.
Test the Integration
After you have completed the "Configure the Cisco MXE 3500" procedure and the "Configure Cisco TCS" procedure, you should test the process workflow. Follow these steps:
Step 1 Log in to Cisco TCS, and click on the Management tab.
Step 2 Navigate to Recording Setup > Create Recording.
Step 3 In Create Recording section:
a. Select the recording alias that you created in the "Create the Recording Alias" task.
b. Enter a dial number. This can be a conference bridge or an endpoint linking to a video source player.
c. (Optional) Click +Advanced Call Settings and choose values for bandwidth and call type.
d. Click Place call button.
e. Wait a minute or two and then end the call.
Step 4 Log in to Show and Share as superuser and navigate to My Account > Uploaded Video.
Depending on the length of your video and the processing queues in Cisco TCS and Cisco MXE 3500, your transformed recording will display here.

•To view the Cisco TCS transcoding queue, go to Diagnostics > Transcoding queue. For more information, see the User Guide on Cisco.com.
•To view the Cisco MXE 3500 job status, go to View > Monitoring > Job Status. For more information, see the Administration Guide on Cisco.com.
