This chapter describes how to use the LSI Software RAID Setup Utility to configure the onboard Intel ICH10R RAID controller.
This chapter contains the following sections:

Enabling the Integrated Intel ICH10R RAID Controller in the BIOS
Note
The integrated ICH10R RAID controller is not compatible for use with VMWare ESX/ESXi Server software in any generation or version of the Cisco UCS C200 or C210 servers.
Step 1
Boot the server and press F2 when prompted to enter the BIOS Setup utility.
Step 2
Choose the Advanced tab, and then choose Mass Storage Controllers Configuration.
Step 3
Set Onboard SATA Controller to Enabled.
Step 4
Set SATA Mode to SW RAID.
Step 5
Press F10 to save your changes and exit the utility.
Launching the LSI Software RAID Setup Utility
To launch the LSI Software RAID Setup Utility which is used to manage the onboard Intel ICH10R controller, follow these steps:
Step 1
Press Ctrl-M during verbose boot to run LSI Software RAID Setup Utility.
The main Setup Utility window appears as shown in Figure 6-1.

Configuring the Onboard Intel ICH10R RAID Controller
Step 1
Choose one of the following options to begin configuration:
•
New Configuration and go to Creating a New RAID Configuration or Viewing or Changing a RAID Configuration.
New Configuration settings allow you to clear an existing configuration of a drive or to configure a new RAID setting.
Caution 
If you choose
New Configuration, and choose
Yes to proceed, all existing arrays and logical drives are replaced with your new configuration. If you want to keep the existing data, use
View/Add Configuration instead.
•
View/Add Configuration and go to Viewing or Changing a RAID Configuration.
View/Add Configuration settings allow you to modify an existing configuration of a drive or to modify a RAID setting.
Creating a New RAID Configuration
Step 1
Choose Configure and press Enter.
Step 2
Choose New Configuration and choose Yes.
Caution 
If you choose
New Configuration and choose
Yes to proceed, all existing arrays and logical drives will be replaced with your new configuration. If you want to keep the existing data, use
View/Add Configuration instead.
The New Configuration — ARRAY SELECTION MENU window appears.
Step 3
Use the arrow keys to choose a drive and press Spacebar to add each drive to the new array.
Note
When you choose a drive, the status changes from READY to ONLIN A[array number]-[drive number]. For example, ONLIN A00-01 means array 0, disk 1.
Note
To clear the selection, press Spacebar again.
To display the Physical Drive Information window, press F2.
To display the Virtual Drive(s) Configured window, press F3.
Step 4
Configure a single RAID array or multiple RAID arrays by following one of these options:
•
To configure a single RAID array, choose all of the drives that you want for the first array, press Enter, and go to Step 5.
•
To configure multiple arrays, do the following:
–
Choose all of the drives that you want for the first array and press Enter.
–
Repeat for each array. When all of the drives for all arrays have been chosen, go to Step 5.
Step 5
Press F10 to begin to choose the RAID level for the array.
The Select Configurable Array (s) window appears.
Step 6
Press Spacebar to choose an array, for example, SPAN-1.
Step 7
Press F10.
The Virtual Drive(s) Configured window, Virtual Drive # window, and Raid Level window appear.
Step 8
Choose the RAID level and press Enter.
Note
The number of available RAID levels displayed depend on the specified number of hard disks.
The New Configuration — ARRAY SELECTION MENU window appears.
Note
Do not change any settings other than the RAID level.
Step 9
Repeat Step 5 through Step 8 to continue configuring the RAID levels for each array.
Step 10
Press Enter to complete the configuration using New Configuration settings.
Step 11
A Save Configuration message appears.
Step 12
Press Enter.
Step 13
The array configuration finishes and a message Configuration Is Saved Press Any Key To Continue appears.
Step 14
Press any key to exit the LSI Software RAID Setup Utility.
Viewing or Changing a RAID Configuration
Step 1
Choose Configure and press Enter.
Step 2
Choose View/Add Configuration and choose Yes.
Note
The existing storage configuration is erased only if you save the newly modified configuration at the end of the process. If you do not save the modified configuration, the Setup Utility restores the previous configuration.
The View/Add Configuration — ARRAY SELECTION MENU window appears.
Step 3
Use the arrow keys to choose a drive and press Spacebar.
Note
When you choose a drive, the status changes from READY to ONLIN A[array number]-[drive number]. For example, ONLIN A00-01 means array 0, disk 1.
Note
To clear the selection, press Spacebar again.
To display the Physical Drive Information window, press F2.
To display the Virtual Drive(s) Configured window, press F3.
Step 4
Press F10 to begin to choose the RAID level for the array.
The Select Configurable Array (s) window appears.
Step 5
Press Spacebar to choose an array, for example; SPAN-1.
Step 6
Press F10.
The Virtual Drive(s) Configured window, Virtual Drive # window, and Raid Level window appear.
Step 7
Choose one of the following options:

The number of available RAID levels displayed depend on the specified number of hard disks.
Note
Do not change any settings other than the RAID level.
•
To change the RAID level, press Enter.
•
To leave the RAID level as is, go to Step 9.
Step 8
Repeat Step 4 through Step 7, to continue configuring the RAID levels for each array.
Step 9
Press Enter to complete the configuration using View/Add Configuration settings.
Step 10
A Save Configuration message appears.
Step 11
Press Enter.
Step 12
The array configuration finishes and a message Configuration Is Saved Press Any Key To Continue appears.
Step 13
Press any key to exit the LSI Software RAID Setup Utility.
