Building the Second Row Table Assembly
Revised: December 2, 2011, OL-21178-01
Table Numbering Information Used in This Chapter
The tabletops and privacy panels are numbered to assist you in installation. Your tabletops and privacy panels use one of the following numbering schemes:
•
Tabletops are numbered section 1 to section 7. The numbering scheme counts tabletop sections starting from the center of the assembly. There are two tabletops that use section 5; if the two sections are differentiated, they are labeled "section 5 right" and "section 5 left".
Note
The directions left and right refer to the assembly as you face the displays.
•
Tabletops are numbered section 1 to section 8. The numbering scheme counts tabletop sections from the right to the left.
Use the numbering scheme that is printed on your tabletops and privacy panels to perform this procedure. Both methods of numbering are listed in this chapter and are included in the figures and assembly steps.

Use this to cover any imperfections for the privacy panel that are caused by assembly, shipping or handling.
|

Caution
The table segments are unstable during assembly. Use caution, and support all structures as required.
Caution
Some system components have metal and plastic edges with hard angles. These edges are exposed until you complete system assembly. Use caution when you move around the system during assembly to avoid contact with any exposed system edges.
 |
Warning Only trained and qualified personnel should be allowed to install, replace, or service this equipment.
|
Caution
Table elements are heavy, and metal edges can be very sharp. Protect your hands and eyes from injury by wearing safety gloves and glasses.
Caution
In order to prevent scratching the tabletops, you should avoid putting any tools on the shelf surfaces.
Note
The directions left and right refer to the assembly as you face it from the front.
 |
Warning Table legs are unstable until they are fully attached to the tabletop. Do not use unattached table legs as tabletop supports while you attach tabletop segments. They can fall and cause injury or damage. Cisco suggests you use the accessory cabinets to support and stabilize the table segments as you install them.
|
Step 1
Remove the Metal packaging braces from the Molded foam bumpers.
Figure 7-1 Metal packaging braces and their Molded foam bumpers
Step 2
Attach the first set of support brackets for the gutter and privacy panel to the table legs.
Note
Note the table layout. Each section is numbered as shown in Figure 7-2. Each cable gutter and privacy panel is different. The numbering for the cable gutters and privacy panels correspond to the numbering for the tabletop.
Tip
When you attach the support brackets, it can be helpful to turn the table leg upside-down.

Step 10
Assemble the I/O modules for the outside left and outside right molded foam bumpers.
The outside left and outside right molded foam bumpers only have one I/O module each. The inner molded foam bumpers have two (see Figure 7-11).
Note
Some I/O modules use a separate jumper cord for the power, rather than the module and cord being connected. If the cables are separate, the jumper cables for them are in sub-carton 2 in the accessory kit in carton 1. Figure 7-10 shows the I/O module and power cord already connected.
Figure 7-10 Foam Bumper Assembly
Step 11
Assemble the I/O modules for the inner molded foam bumpers.
Note
The Ethernet cables are of different lengths. Attach the Ethernet cables to the I/O modules as follows:
•
Use the 12M cable, 37-0965-01, for the I/O modules between sections 6 and 5
•
Use the 3M cable, 37-0887-02, for the I/O modules between sections 5 and 7
Note
Steps for routing the Ethernet and power cables are in Chapter 10 "Routing Power and Signal Cables."
Note
The flange on the I/O module cover piece is wider on the bottom than on the top.
Note
Some I/O modules use a separate jumper cord for the power, rather than the module and cord being connected. If the cables are separate, the jumper cables for them are in Carton 1. Figure 7-11 shows the I/O module and power cord already connected.

Step 13
Use jumper cables to attach the power I/O modules to the power outlets of the PDUs; then, connect the power cables to the PDUs and route the cables to the right side of the table.
Note
The power cables connect to the floor-mounted electrical termination unit (for example, a junction box with two electrical outlets) that you install in the cable trench or other solution that you provide for the second row Ethernet, power, and microphone cables. Be sure to follow all electrical codes when providing this cabling solution. For more information, see the "Cabling Considerations for Second Row Seating" section on page 2-14, and for cable trenching diagrams with measurements, see Figure 2-8 and Figure 2-9.
