About This Manual
This section defines the audience and scope of this manual and briefly describes the contents of each chapter. There are also descriptions of the icons and conventions used to convey instructions and information.
Cisco documentation and additional literature are available in a CD-ROM package, which ships with your product. The Documentation CD-ROM, a member of the Cisco Connection Family, is updated monthly. Therefore, it might be more up to date than printed documentation. To order additional copies of the Documentation CD-ROM, contact your local sales representative or call customer service. The CD-ROM is available as a single package or as an annual subscription. Audience and Scope
This document is for the networking professional managing a Catalyst 2900 series XL switch with the Cisco IOS command-line interface (CLI). It is assumed that this individual has experience working with Cisco IOS and is familiar with the concepts and terminology of Ethernet and local area networking.
The scope of this guide is to provide all the information you need to manage the switch by using Cisco IOS commands.
Document Organization
This guide is organized into the following chapters:
Chapter 1, "," describes the features that have been added to Cisco IOS with the introduction of the Catalyst 2900 series XL switches.
Chapter 2, "," is a command-by-command description of the Cisco IOS commands that have been changed or customized for the Catalyst 2900 series XL switches.

Command descriptions use these conventions:

Arguments for which you supply values are in italics.
