This document describes the new features, limitations, and caveats for Cisco MDS 9000 Family Fabric Manager Release 3.2(1b). Use this document in conjunction with documents listed in the "Related Documentation" section.

All release notes may have been updated with new information on restrictions and caveats. Introduction
The Cisco Fabric Manager provides an alternative to the command-line interface (CLI) for most switch configuration commands. Fabric Manager provides powerful Fibre Channel troubleshooting tools such as advanced monitoring features and sophisticated debug analysis tools. These in-depth health and configuration analysis capabilities leverage unique MDS 9000 switch capabilities including the Fibre Channel Ping and Traceroute utilities.

Upgrading Your Version of Cisco Fabric Manager
To upgrade your version of Cisco Fabric Manager, or install Fabric Manager for the first time, follow these steps:

Note
On a Windows system, the Microsoft Active Directory applies a Group Policy Object (GPO) to the Fabric Manager Server. The GPO does not recognize the local user PostgreSQL because it is not in the GPO allow list. As a result, the GPO removes it, and the PostgreSQL database stops working.
To avoid this situation, you should move the Fabric Manager Server to its own OU and apply the same feature settings as the original OU, but remove the local user account to log in as a service.
Minimum Hardware Requirements
For a PC running Fabric Manager Server on large fabrics (1000 or more end devices), we recommend you use a Dual Core/Dual CPU high-speed system with 2 GB of RAM and 10 GB of free disk space.
New Features in Cisco MDS Fabric Manager Release 3.2(1b)
There are no new features in Cisco Fabric Manager Release 3.2(1b).
Limitations and Restrictions
This section includes limitations and restrictions for Cisco Fabric Manager Release 3.2(1b).
Setting Shared Memory Values for PostgreSQL in Solaris and Linux
During a Fabric Manager installation, a warning is displayed in the log file advising you to change the shared memory values when a low shared memory setting is detected. An example of the warning message is as follows:
2007-12-07 14:50:41,120 [ WARN] Your shared memory settings may be too low to run PostgreSQL. You may want to reconfigure kernel resources before installing.For instructions on how to set up the shared memory value, visit http://www.postgresql.org/docs/8.2/interactive/kernel-resources.html.
Fabric Manager Caveats
This section lists the open and resolved caveats for this release. Use Table 2 to determine the status of a particular caveat. In the table, "O" indicates an open caveat and "R" indicates a resolved caveat.

Symptom: Using Fabric Manger Client, after 5 mins of inactivity, a popup-box displays "Connection to server is lost. Please login". This occurs after installing Fabric Manger Release 3.2(1a) on Solaris 10. After attempting to log in to the server again, an "Unable to connect to server!" message is displayed.
Workaround: This issue is resolved.
•
Symptom: After choosing to install Postress during a Fabric Manager Release 3.2(1a) installation on Solaris 10, Postgres began to consume 100% of the CPU power.
Workaround: This issue is resolved.
•
Symptom: Fabric Manager Client may fail when clicking on a zone set that has a large number of member listed as "Not in Fabric".
Workaround: This issue is resolved.
•
Symptom: Fabric Manager shows an incorrect unlicensed fabric message.'
Workaround: This issue is resolved.
•
Symptom: When using Linux, the encrypter.sh command does not return to the command prompt when the command is complete.
Workaround: This issue is resolved.
