These release notes describe important information for Cisco Video Surveillance Stream Manager, Release 5.2.
•
Release 5.2 is a minor release of Cisco Video Surveillance Stream Manager containing new features and updates. Users of a previous release(s) should check the "System Requirements" section section for compatibility information and instructions on how to use existing data with this new release.
•
Users of a previous release(s) of either Cisco Stream Manager or ClearClient are encouraged to upgrade. See the "Installation Notes" section for more information.

Introduction
The Cisco Video Surveillance Stream Manager application is a collection of discrete software modules. Release 5.2, includes the following modules:
•
Cisco Video Surveillance Stream Manager Configuration Module
Used to identify and program Cisco Video Surveillance IP Gateway encoders, decoders, and storage devices. The Stream Manager Upgrade Module is included in the Configuration Module and is used to upgrade firmware on Cisco Video Surveillance Services Platforms, Integrated Services Platforms, and IP Gateway encoders and decoders.•
Cisco Video Surveillance Stream Manager Client Viewing Module
Provides access to all system operations, including camera control, stored video review, and alarm notifications. This is the primary PC application for viewing live or stored video from the network.•
Cisco Video Surveillance Stream Manager Administration and Monitoring Module
Enables monitoring of network, server use, and dynamic system health, and provides status reporting. An alternative version with the Failover Module also provides failover management.In addition, this release includes the following firmware updates.

Installation Notes
•
To install the same or a newer version of a Stream Manager module that already is installed on the computer, you must first uninstall the existing module.
•
For instructions to install or uninstall Cisco Video Surveillance firmware and Stream Manager software, refer to the documents described in Related Documentation.
•
Install the modules one at a time, performing the installation procedure for each module that you want to install.
•
Installation software and firmware is located on the Stream Manager installation disk, or you can download it from the following URL:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6940/tsd_products_support_series_home.html•
Before you install the Stream Manager software, make sure that the computer on which you are installing meets the minimum hardware requirements. See Desktop PC System Requirements for more information.

Software Filenames and Part Numbers
For Cisco Video Surveillance Stream Manager Release 5.2, you must install the software and firmware versions described in this section.
•
Cisco Stream Manager Release 5.2 software and firmware is not compatible with any previous version.
•
All software and firmware must be upgraded to Release 5.2 for proper operation.
•
Before you install, make sure that the computer on which you are installing meets the minimum hardware requirements, as described in System Requirements.
•
You can install software that you obtain on a Stream Manager installation disk or that you download from the following URL:

Desktop PC System Requirements
A desktop PC or laptop running Stream Manager Software requires the following hardware and software:

Stream Manager 5.2 software and firmware is not compatible with any previous version.
All software and firmware should be upgraded to version 5.2 for proper operation. For the required version of each module and firmware file, see Software Filenames and Part Numbers.

Fixed Connections
Fixed Connections are supported to create a permanent one to one, or one to many, connection between two devices, such as an encoder and decoder. These connections can be used for the following:
•
Audio and video transmissions between an encoder (camera) and decoder (monitor).
•
Tunnel contact events over the IP network.

Serial Tunneling
The Fixed Connections feature is used to tunnel serial data over the IP network. For more information, see the "Fixed Connections" section of the Cisco Video Surveillance System User Guide.
Stream Manager Monitor Email Notification
Stream Manager can send email alerts to notify one or more users of system status or other events, including the following:
•
When a video loss event is detected on a recorder analog port, or an encoder port.
•
When a bad video event is detected on a recorder analog port.
•
When a recording failure event is detected on a recorder analog or virtual port.
•
When a RAID event occurs on a recorder that has storage monitoring correctly configured.
•
When a device is missing from the network.
PTZ Daisy Chain Support
The serial ports on a recorder can be configured to support one or more cameras, either in a direct connection, or a daisy-chain configuration. the following options are available in the Device settings for a recorder:
•
Hybrid Mode—the serial connections are used for matrix interface connections (port 2 & 3). Port 1 is automatically assigned to a console link if the recorder is configured as a timemaster with a source of custom. If the recorder is not a timemaster/custom then this port is available for general console connections. No other device can be configured on this port 1 while the recorder is in Hybrid Mode. USB interface for camera connectivity is not supported.
•
VMS Mode—allows serial camera connections. Cameras can be attached individually, or in a daisy-chain configuration. Each port can be configured with a different camera.

Panasonic NS-202 IP PTZ Camera Support
The Panasonic NS-202 IP PTZ camera is supported in Cisco Video Surveillance Stream Manager, release 5.2, including the following features:

Viewing live video

Retention

Grooming
•
PTZ operations

Virtual ports

Alarm actions

network parameters

User access rights and privileges

Tours and sequences
Note
Support for the Panasonic NS-202 IP PTZ camera is the same as support for the Panasonic NP-244 camera, but adds support for PTZ, iris, focus, and set/get preset. Other Stream Manager features are supported, unless specified below.
The Panasonic NS-202 IP PTZ camera does not support the following Stream Manager Features:

Audio
•
Contact closures
•
Dual streams
•
Activity detection
•
Dynamic encoding changes
•
The Panasonic NS-202 IP PTZ camera is not supported in Hybrid mode.

Database Cleanup
The new Database Cleanup feature allows you to remove cameras, monitors, and other assets from the system configuration.

Configuration Editing Enhancements
The settings from an existing user account can be copied and applied to another user when adding or modifying a user account. You can also copy and paste the monitor access rights and camera access rights from one monitor or camera to another monitor or camera.

Caveats
Use the Bug Toolkit to find information on the caveats (bugs) for the current release, including a description of the problem and available workarounds. The Bug Toolkit lists both open and resolved caveats.

Using the Bug Toolkit
You can search for problems by using the Cisco Software Bug Toolkit. To access the Bug Toolkit, you need the following items:

Internet connection

Web browser

Cisco.com user ID and password
To use the Software Bug Toolkit, follow these steps:
Procedure
Step 1
To access the Bug Toolkit, go to http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/action.do?hdnAction=searchBugs.
Step 2
Log on with your Cisco.com user ID and password.
Step 3
To look for information about a specific problem, enter the bug ID number in the "Search for bug ID" field, then click Go.
Step 4
To look for information if you do not know the bug ID number:
a.
Select "Security" from the "Select Product Category" menu.
b.
Select "Cisco Video Surveillance Stream Manager Software" from the "Select Product" menu.
c.
Select the version number from the "Software Version" menu.
d.
Under Advanced Options, select "Use default settings" or "Use custom settings". The default settings search for severity 1, 2 and 3 bugs, open and fixed bugs, and bugs containing bug details. Use the custom settings to change the severity and status parameters, or to search for keywords within the bug headline and description.
