These release notes describe important information for Cisco Video Surveillance Stream Manager, Release 5.1.
•
Release 5.1 is a minor release of Cisco Video Surveillance Stream Manager containing new features and updates. Users of a previous release(s) should check the "System Requirements" section section for compatibility information and instructions on how to use existing data with this new release.
•
Users of a previous release(s) of either Cisco Stream Manager or ClearClient are encouraged to upgrade. See the "Installation Notes" section for more information.

Introduction
The Cisco Video Surveillance Stream Manager application is a collection of discrete software modules. Release 5.1, includes the following modules:
•
Cisco Video Surveillance Stream Manager Configuration Module
Used to identify and program Cisco Video Surveillance IP Gateway encoders, decoders, and storage devices. The Stream Manager Upgrade Module is included in the Configuration Module and is used to upgrade firmware on Cisco Video Surveillance Services Platforms, Integrated Services Platforms, and IP Gateway encoders and decoders.•
Cisco Video Surveillance Stream Manager Client Viewing Module
Provides access to all system operations, including camera control, stored video review, and alarm notifications. This is the primary PC application for viewing live or stored video from the network.•
Cisco Video Surveillance Stream Manager Administration and Monitoring Module
Enables monitoring of network, server use, and dynamic system health, and provides status reporting. An alternative version with the Failover Module also provides failover management.In addition, this release includes the following firmware updates.

Installation Notes
•
To install the same or a newer version of a Stream Manager module that already is installed on the computer, you must first uninstall the existing module.
•
For instructions to install or uninstall Cisco Video Surveillance firmware and Stream Manager software, refer to the documents described in Related Documentation.
•
Install the modules one at a time, performing the installation procedure for each module that you want to install.
•
Installation software and firmware is located on the Stream Manager installation disk, or you can download it from the following URL:

Before you install the Stream Manager software, make sure that the computer on which you are installing meets the minimum hardware requirements. See Desktop PC System Requirements for more information.

Software Filenames and Part Numbers
For Cisco Stream Manager release 5.1, you must install the software and firmware versions described in this section.
•
Cisco Stream Manager 5.1 software and firmware is not compatible with any previous version.
•
All software and firmware must be upgraded to version 5.1 for proper operation.
•
Before you install, make sure that the computer on which you are installing meets the minimum hardware requirements, as described in System Requirements.

You can install software that you obtain on a Stream Manager installation disk or that you download from the following URL:

Desktop PC System Requirements
A desktop PC r laptop running Stream Manager Software requires the following hardware and software:

Stream Manager 5.0 software and firmware is not compatible with any previous version.
All software and firmware should be upgraded to version 5.0 for proper operation. For the required version of each module and firmware file, see Software Filenames and Part Numbers.

Threshold Setting for Activity Detection Alarms
The threshold setting specifies the level of activity in a region that must be surpassed to trigger an alarm. This feature is used with the Sensitivity slider to reduce the number of unnecessary alarms.
Recording Schedule for Recorders
Recording schedules allow a user to define the days and times when ports on a recorder retain audio or video. This feature ensures recorders retain video only when necessary, and saves recording capacity for critical usage.
Minimum Retention Setting
The minimum retention setting defines the minimum number of hours for a video recorder port to capture video before video grooming is applied.
Maximum Retention Setting
The maximum retention setting defines the maximum number of days for a video recorder port to capture video before video grooming is applied.

Improved Retention Reporting
The retention graph data is displayed using the following colors:
•
Green: The camera current meets all configured retention values.
•
Grey: No video was recorded.
•
Orange: The camera does not currently meet the configured maximum retention value (for example, to 10 days.
•
Red: The camera does not meeting the user-configurable minimum retention value.
•
White: An Event occurred.
•
Black: The retention values are unknown because the retention value data is supplied from a recorder running a Cisco Stream Manager software release lower than Release 5.1.1. The retention status of the camera cannot be determined. To enable retention reporting for the camera, update to Stream Manager version 5.1.1 or higher.

Pelco Firmware Compatibility
Stream Manager is compatible with the following versions of Pelco 9760 Keyboard and Endura Matrix Switch:

Caveats

Using the Bug Toolkit
You can search for problems by using the Cisco Software Bug Toolkit. To access the Bug Toolkit, you need the following items:

Internet connection

Web browser

Cisco.com user ID and password
To use the Software Bug Toolkit, follow these steps:
Procedure
Step 1
To access the Bug Toolkit, go to http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/action.do?hdnAction=searchBugs.
Step 2
Log on with your Cisco.com user ID and password.
Step 3
To look for information about a specific problem, enter the bug ID number in the "Search for bug ID" field, then click Go.
Step 4
To look for information if you do not know the bug ID number:
a.
Select "Security" from the "Select Product Category" menu.
b.
Select "Cisco Video Surveillance Stream Manager Software" from the "Select Product" menu.
c.
Select the version number from the "Software Version" menu.
d.
Under Advanced Options, select "Use default settings" or "Use custom settings". The default settings search for severity 1, 2 and 3 bugs, open and fixed bugs, and bugs containing bug details. Use the custom settings to change the severity and status parameters, or to search for keywords within the bug headline and description.
